Likewise interestingly as someone who had a life changing virus at 14 years of age thus very much aware of the Long Covid factor (M.E,) I am very much of the mind of the risk involved being well worth taking to give you as little chance of copping for similar to me let alone the possibility of it killing you.

It does show that people will have all kinds of thoughts on the subject and many with good reason for their opinions. There will however be many with silly views based on what some idiot has said on mums.net, facebook, and all the other bollocks.

You are clearly not one of these and I hope that you find the reassurance needed over the coming weeks and can soon be rid of this bloody awful threat hanging over us.

I just find it hard to believe there won’t be side effects for many healthy people, you only have to look at thalidomide to see what can happen. Unless I have to have it too travel I’ll wait till a few million have had it first. Usually takes years of testing to sign something off, yes I get the whole world is in on this but time will tell if it has long lasting effects or not. I always go back to gulf war 1 and the cocktails of pills many HAD to take who ended up fucked and the MOD washed their hands of them.

Hydroxychloroquine - it's a game changer.

Exposure to UV or bleach are extremely effective at killing the virus. We should look into this.

Cases are up only because we're doing such an excellent job at testing. We should do less testing.

We're rounding the corner - COVID is under total control.

Thalidomide is now 60 years old and regulations have increased considerably since then.
Of course there will be side effects there are with virtually everything but ovre 20,000 people will havebeentested with it so large and importnat effects will be known. In addition it will be given to several million more high risk people who have to be monitored in phase 4 testing.
Completely risk free? Nothing is, exceptionally low risk?almost certainly.

If people have "mental issues" with taking a vaccine, or an injection, or just some medicine, then they should take it up with their psychologist who I'm sure will tell them to shut up and roll their sleeves up, albeit in a professional way.

I took pills on a daily basis when I was in Belize because we were advised to do so... Only when I was waiting for the flight home did I get handed leaflets about the diseases I could potentially have been exposed to

Will I take the vaccine with SWMBO (who's vulnerable) which has the 90% protection rate... Fuck yeah!!

Losing a brother to reacting badly to a what was considered a safe vaccine has meant I have had to ensure things were safe for me and my children growing up. My kids never had that same vaccine that took my brother at 18 months of age.
So, I will want greater assurances than most, as will my children and their kids.

If that makes me an idiot by some on here, so be it.

Grandson had his injections and was dead 18 hours later. The wife fed him and he nodded off and then we took him home. We left him in his pram so as not to disturb him and the daughter tried to wake him up but non of us could. So like you Mr Blue we too remain cautious and I do not think it's a lot to ask to see how a certain batch performs before becoming willing participants. There is also the dilemma of there being many different vaccines released over the next few months, so which if any will produce the best results and more importantly perform safer with little to no side effect. It's a dilemma for sure and maybe those on the front line or suffering underlying health issues would be best to dip toes early, but that choice remains there own. Risk reward strategy is one thing, unless of course you draw the short straw in the game of life, so it's not simply a case of people behaving irresponsibly, but more evaluating a given situation before wishing to proceed. As a general consensus vaccination is as safe as it can be but there will be casualties.
