KP might be an arrogant cock but he is still top drawer in 20/20.
not so sure he's in the best 5 English T20 batsmen though, who do you kick out of the team with a top 6 of Hales, Roy, Root, Morgan, Buttler and Stokes? not only that I think England need to look to the future now, KP would only ever be short term with him being 35 ish, that top 6 (barring Morgan) are the future of England's one day batting (all of them are at the oldest 27)KP might be an arrogant cock but he is still top drawer in 20/20.
I agree, I think he loses out to others purely because they can bat as well (like Dawson) but surely you have to pick the top wicket taker in your own domestic T20 league!? it'd be a bit easier to understand if he was a pace bowler as they'll have a hard time in India but a spinner, it's just mad that they haven't picked him even as a back upI actually agree with you mate-I'm very happy with the England team in all forms of the game at the moment, shame about Parry though as he's never let England down in the limited opportunities he has had.
I think Wright falls behind Stokes now, I get the feeling he's a marked man in terms of the England selectors and no matter what he does he'll never get back in, same with a few, I'm shocked that Varun Chopra ahs never been given a go at opening in the test sideI can totally understand them not going back to KP, i actually think leaving Luke Wright out is more of a mistake, as he has just as much T20 experience as KP, has played the big bash/IPL and is far less of a disruptive selection. Its a decent squad, but I dont think we will win in the conditions.
KP is never going to get picked again, we may as well be hankering for Flintoff or even Botham to be selected.

it just seems maybe the England selectors pick players off hunches or something, of the revolving door of openers Carberry seemed the best, he as well as anyone against an aggressive pace attack in Australia's back yard only for him to be dropped after and quite a few others given a longer go.Oh very much agree that Stokes is ahead of him, I was comparing the not selected players, that I would pick Wright over KP, not Wright over Stokes.
Chopra has had a couple of lean seasons when he's taken over the Warwickshire captaincy, before that he was in the Lions squad a couple of times and did well, he was seen as the next in line to open for England when Strauss and Cook were the pair. Bell has the Warwickshire captaincy this season so it will be interesting if Chopra can get back to scoring 1000 runs and be in with a shout. There are still 2 or 3 batting slots up for grabs in the test team.

It seems Hales will be dropped now (I also didn't really see him as a 4/5 day opener? I don't think he opens for Notts) and as you say possibly space for a No.3 also, it'll probably just go to whoever starts the county season well.
good point, not so sure on Taylor he's not as secure as others but I think one big score and he'll be safe, Compton is on thin ice I think but will be given at least the start of the summer, but I just don't see Hales getting straight back in, he didn't get the scores in SA and there's a lot of pressure being applied by some pundits saying he doesn't have the technique etc. maybe he'd make a better No.3 coming out and attacking rather than trying to be a typical opener. I think the selectors are resigned to just looking to fill in the openers spot until a young opener reveals themselves, someone like Hameed, Lees etc.Completely agree about Carberry, Hales and whoever starts the season well is in with a shout. I'd also say Taylor isnt assured of his place.
As for selection, its better that they seem to use hunches these days (Vaughan and Trescothick are examples of 2 with mediocre county records before they were selected who kicked on) than the old boys network of if you played for Middlesex, Surrey or Kent you were assured of at least 1 cap at some point.
