His dad said they did one when he was 8, I'm not sure I'd take him at face value and they didn't have any documentation, and the BCCI didn't back him up which was suspicious. Also it's not unheard of for the very best 16 year olds to compete in professional sport (Lamine Yamal/Rooney, dozens of tennis players, Littler) but 14 really is unheard of so I sort of defer back to balance of probabilities.
As far as I'm concerned as soon as he's playing professional cricket it stops mattering, and he's definitely u19. Age fraud has been happening for decades in the subcontinent, it's more of a domestic issue (getting school scholarships, call ups to age grade stuff) than a problem for international cricket.
Yes I agree. As I said, it only matters in reference to whether he's setting records as youngest Test centurion/player etc which is where people might start asking for more evidence.
In terms of this U19 final (on skysport cricket channel for those interested), England have done well to peg it back a bit. Keep them under 400 and it's a good fight back from 250 runs after 25 overs.
Still think it will be too much for us though. There's been a 40 off 30 balls but everyone else has been at a run a ball outside of Sooryavanshi's onslaught.
