England players in the news for the wrong reasons yet again, apparently. It seems that Stokes and Atkinson were in a nightclub in the early hours of monday morning when an "incident" took place. The ECB are currently investigating an alleged breach of protocol. It seems, after the fiasco in Noosa during the Ashes debacle, that lessons haven't been learned. I'm reading that there's supposedly a curfew in place for the England players.

Stokes not learnt from his pass mistakes, comes across as an arrogant bellend, Atkinson played well in the test then throws it away, we are our own worst enemies, clowns.

Despite all the investment and all the protestations to the contrary, cricket remains the most unprofessional high-profile sport, and I rather admire that. I listened to the interviews with the half-sozzled ex-England captains the other day, and they all had had their capers back in the day. Nothing has changed. It’s a game rather than a sport, though I’m sure someone with a communications background will tell us the players were ‘in an approved venue letting off steam after an intense Test’. Two days work every five months can take it out you…
Wonder if they still try to beat the number of beers they can drink on the flight to Australia.

If so, wonder if David Boon’s record of 52 beers on the flight is still the record.

Stokes does sound terribly passive aggressive in these post-match media interviews. On second thoughts, scratch the passive.

I'll bet Marcus North welcomes this incident. Only just in the job and one under the grill already.

Captain Crawley has a nice ring to it.
Certainly alliterative. They gave the vice captaincy to Brook before the Ashes, who then showed more care for shot selection at the bar than he did shot selection at the wicket. Alas, it would actually look like rewarding buffoonery were they to elevate him, so they'll presumably try to quash the story and leave Stokes chastened but in command. I see Saracens' players were also involved, so better to have them cast as the villains.

They need to be succession planning anyway. Stokes is 35 and all facets of his game are declining.

Are there any decent captains around these days? Billings?

Rory Burns is in pretty wretched form so don’t expect anything from Surrey. Think Bell-Drummond captains Kent. What about this pup Anderson at Lancashire?…

They’ll be praying Robinson continues his good form now that he’s captaining Sussex. Couldn’t believe he’d been recalled last Test and lo and behold he might be captain next Test! Succession.

Stokes is now toast sadly...great player on his day but also terninally arrogant and stupid. As soon as he won one match his first thought was getting pissed.

Ultimately, having a piss-up and a scrap was more important to him than captaining his country.

The way different players have been disciplined is crazy and so inconsistent.

How about Sam Curran? Not sure that’d go down well with some posters on here.
