Is that low? It's exactly average, is it not? What other metric would a developed country accept being average by worldwide standards?

I’d say so, when you eliminate the long list of countries like Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco etc. and just keep in equivalent countries where there are medium cities like Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham and big cities like London, we’d be well down the list.

It’s probably not the right place, but the absolutely devastating news of the death in service of Sgt Graham Saville has been announced this evening.

Graham was struck by a train near Newark last Thursday evening.

Graham was a Nottinghamshire police officer like myself. It’s a small force and like a big family. I didn’t know Graham personally but I knew who he was but the news tonight is heartbreaking for his young family, his parents, seeing him like that after the incident; and also for the officers who helped him on the night it happened.

Graham died in the line of duty; a hero helping to save someone else’s life. It’s a hard job trying to keep it together on the frontline and tonight he has paid the ultimate price for his bravery.

RIP Sarge.

Emmerdale has more sociopaths, serial killers and criminals than any other part of the U.K. its a well known fact.
