Crime on the rise / is society f*cked?

I went nowhere near the Notting Hill Carnival in a decade. Whilst huge crowds always attract unsavoury elements, nowhere seemed to do it worse than there.

Imagine the scenes if they try and cancel it.

Its about time they shut down the shitshow, and excuse to commit crime, that is the Notting Hill festival.

75 Officers assaulted (some sexually)
8 stabbings
275 arrests

It clearly attracts the absolute scum of the earth,as those figures are disgraceful and totally unacceptable.

People acting like animals, shtting in the streets, openly dealing drugs, assaults galore, and openly running around with weapons.......Officers dread Policing it as its the same every year, despite the efforts to hush up much of the issues because of the demographic involved.

Get the fucker gone.

Some context here with those statistics, 2 million people attended the carnival , statistically 99.9% were totally safe and enjoyed the day

Legalise and regulate drugs. There would be no need for hoodlums to conduct turfwars at Notting Hill when they simply have to pay for a stall fee.

What a fucking strange take on a lawless event?

Those 275 arrests would have been kept to an absolute minimum....they would have been absolutely necessary as Officers are instructed to Police leniently and turn a blind eye where possible,so as not to escalate racial tension or simply be accused of it - the entire event is a farcical exercise in tiptoeing on eggshells and bowing down to lawlessness because of the skin colour of the majority that attend.

Also......in respect of your statistics above, can you please provide a graph for the amount of stabbings, physical attacks (some sexual),and assaults on Police, that happened on each of those other events?

You know,for context......

I don’t know-I think it was probably a decision he had to make in an instant. It’s terribly sad-for everyone.

Yep,probably......and while that decision was incredibly brave and admirable,it also broke the cardinal rule.

Without wanting to sound unempathetic,as i have also made instant decisions that fortunately turned out ok.....hopefully this awful incident can serve as an education to others if they ever find themselves in a similar situation/environment.

RIP Sergeant.

It’s probably not the right place, but the absolutely devastating news of the death in service of Sgt Graham Saville has been announced this evening.

Graham was struck by a train near Newark last Thursday evening.

Graham was a Nottinghamshire police officer like myself. It’s a small force and like a big family. I didn’t know Graham personally but I knew who he was but the news tonight is heartbreaking for his young family, his parents, seeing him like that after the incident; and also for the officers who helped him on the night it happened.

Graham died in the line of duty; a hero helping to save someone else’s life. It’s a hard job trying to keep it together on the frontline and tonight he has paid the ultimate price for his bravery.

RIP Sarge.
RIP Graham.

That men's Euro finals one is bollocks though, because they include all arrests but only include the official attendees. There would have been many more thousands of people who were in the area. Did the guy who shoved a flare up his arse have a ticket? Who knows? No doubt loads of French youths and Chelsea fans showed up without tickets and caused trouble.

It's also worth wondering what the arrests were for. I'd guess the festivals would be a mix of drug offences and the odd drunken fight. The football would be just the latter for the most part. But it would be major news if any of the others had an actual stabbing, let alone seven.

Having said that, I went to the Notting Hill Carnival once and I found it a fairly decent atmosphere. I did see someone (a posh, hippie-looking white bloke) snorting something off a coke spoon and the police not giving a shit. But for the most part, the main negative thing for me was that it was just way too crowded. It was the year of the Grenfell Tower fire, because everyone was wearing green. I don't know if it gets a bit more lairy later on, but it didn't seem any more likely to kick off than an average British nightclub (which perhaps isn't a complement).

Not even Corbyn believed that. Just like cheap cigarettes from a hold-all in a pub, dealers would undercut a heavily taxed product.

The Notting Hill Carnival kicks off every year. The Euro final was a near unique event in London.

Did you speak to Corbyn?

There's a difference between personal beliefs and manifesto commitments and political campaigning. He never campaigned against the monarchy or private education during his leadership but we all know his views.

Are there gangs with machetes fighting over fake or smuggled cigarette business?

Ever been to Portugal?

It's actually harder not to buy drugs there. Very little turf war violence.

I don't think any one of us can put ourselves in his position.

Let's wait for the outcome of BTP's investigation.

Policing on the frontline is a daily grind; a stress of shifts, the radio noise, the anxiety of anticipation and the never ending workload that you cannot clear-I still have flashback dreams of my docket and the paperwork that needed doing.

Added to that the random, spontaneous decisions you have to make with incomplete information and insufficient time, knowing that you will be judged with 20/20 vision by those who could never walk in those shoes.

This week has again shown the way politicians denigrate the service, blame and criticise in a desperate attempt to retain the support of the ignorant-all slogans and soundbites with nothing behind it, after over a decade of their deliberate obliteration of the service and juxtaposed with the horrific events that led to the loss of an Officer's life.
