Yes he'd bang in the goals, but he doesn't fit in our system as he doesn't do enough off the ball. We need someone who presses, is selfless and is OK not being an automatic starter

If we don't get Kane, then I'd rather we wait a year and go all-in for Haaland. Last season we were dominant with false nines, and Sterling, Torres & Jesus can all do a top job in the centre

So you think Kane would be ok not being an automatic starter?

Some of the negative reactions to him on here are understandable but emotional.

For me it's purely pragmatism.

Positives - On the field. Proven goalscorer.

- Off the filed. Increased marketing reach

Negatives - On the field. Does he fit into the team. Maybe, maybe not. One for Pep to decide.

- Off the field. None that I can think of.

And so for me it's a 'yes please' as long as Pep wants him and thinks he can fit into the team
For anybody who feels that this would be a bad move... Just imagine the piss it would boil on the dark side

Saw him outside Greggs Wilmslow when he was at United years ago, just read this thread whilst getting my breakfast at the very same shop. Coincidence?

Top scorer in the Euros and still miles quicker over 15 yards than Kane. Won’t be many sprints from halfway to be done with how teams set up against us. Great header of the ball,, great finisher with either foot, still as sharp as anyone around the box with a brilliant touch….. Shite at free kicks too so should fit right in.
Didn't think he was good in the Euros from my viewing, most of his goals were penalties, he's elderly and needs a Zimmer to get round the pitch.

It’s an obvious comparison to make pal.

I’m not saying they’re novices in the world of marketing, I’m saying they’ve seen - less than a month ago - the traction one half of the Messi/Ronaldo got when going to another club and it might be attracting to them. Not that it’s opened their eyes and thought ‘fucking hell, didn’t know that was a thing’.

It’s not much to go off but most clubs do an introductory signing video for new players and put it on the club website and their YouTube channel.

Messi’s first day at PSG got over 27 million views.

Jack Grealish got around 1.7 million.

Messi and Ronaldo are a different breed when it comes to worldwide popularity and marketing.

I’d still prefer to sign Kane this summer but if we are unwilling to match Levy’s demands, Ronaldo would be an excellent short-term option.

Not only would his signing give City huge marketability options and guarantee goals, I think his ego would make him driven to win the CL.

He’d love to be the first player to win the CL with two clubs in the same city. I also think the current players would love to play alongside him.
