Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Someone commented in the match thread that Nunes is having a good season. I'm on a different planet to that opinion. He's fuckimg dismal. At one point today, he trod of the fucking ball and it dribbled out for a throw-in. Comically awful. Sure, good cross for a goal, but is that it? If we are going down the path of this calibre of tart, you can enjoy boring bullshit mid-table football for as long as players like him pull on our shirt. Fucking shocking player. You can throw that beach footballer Savinho into that mix too, fuck me he's a million miles away. I could swing for the scouting and procurement department, who the fuck saw talent in them?

2 seasons mate. Arguably 3. There’s a reason he was dropped during the treble season.
Yep, you're probably right. I think his last great game was Madrid in semi final at home. But there was signs he wasn't at it then. Soon as he started his extra marital shit, Pep should of got rid. Mind wasn't on City.

9 goal involvements for Nunes so far, only Haaland has had more. Also, Nunes has had 5 assists for Haaland, he's the only one who can find Haaland currently, KDB aside.

If he's fucking abysmal, what does that imply for the star players who have contributed fewer goals than him? Some have 1 goal involvements in the league. Go figure.

I think that there’s a player in there, just want a bit more from him. Maybe that comes with game time

Doing all that as mostly a left winger, while we fill the midfield with players out of form, out of legs or just not able to physically dominate.

Personally I think he could play at RB for us, instead of Walker, to cover with pace. But at the very least, he can do a job in midfield - Gundo, Bernardo & Lewis aren't winning any duels or tracking back effectively

Is Kovacic still our second highest goal scorer in the league? If so that’s abysmal. Can’t rely all the time on Haaland. We used to have goals from everywhere.

He goes over the top, unintentionally to be fair, on Rico.
I can translate that, as the laws prescribe, as careless and bordering on reckless, but for some players it's ignored, for others it's a red. I've seen enough football over the decades to have witnessed some shitty hopeless refereeing, and today's card for Rico was another example.

Survival is the word pep used in his press conference.

Many of these players won’t survive.

He knows we have a real fight on our hands for top4. Reminds me of when we were compete with spurs for top 4. This season is going to be brutal unless we buy new players on Jan and they somehow make an immediate impact. Lots of ifs.

Set pieces today were poor. The marking was non existent.

Anyway, we all know the faults.

Survival and it’s live… -:)

Wonder what Makem is doing these days? Or Samaras or dabo or dunne.

Exactly. Too many “nunes was ok”. Hes fuckin shite.
Not good enough.
Hes not alone.

The decline in our squad is appalling
He has become a ‘meh’ player, decent moments but they are few and far between.

Added into the fact that he’s had to be used as a utility left winger because he’s too soft to play a useful role in the centre of the park. I can’t fathom the how’s and why’s of a player being given a great opportunity not to be busting a gut in terms of distance covered, soft in the tackle etc.

I’m disappointed as I thought he could or should have been making a bigger impression here.

The injuries are the primary reason. It's having a knock-on effect to other players in that they are not getting their usual rotation. Whether that rotation would be for physical or mental tiredness doesn't make a difference, it's still needed. Players cannot play every 3 or 4 days and still be at their best.
We can disagree, I think there's been rotation to a degree. Either which way, I don't think a point at Palace is too bad in our current form. Just got to keep working at it.

When he's even approaching, being a fraction as hopeless as the current Gungogan...I'll worry ;)

Not sure how you seperate Pep from the players he's had. He's trained them, picked the team and no doubt had a massive influence on who we bought over the years, what more do you want and what makes you think that the players he has had led to his success? He could have a different group of players and won even more? Are there any players in particular you think he couldn't have done it without them? When you're a manager at the top of the game you get good players per se.
Not necessarily talking about his own purchases Im just raising the question as to could he have done it without so many wc players. When he came in the first season we could see what he was trying to do but won nothing. He then got the players he needed and we started winning. It's not a criticism of him. A typical eg now is without Rodri and a partly fit KDB could he still win something ?

Nunes and Savinho aren't shit, but they aren't good enough to be regular starters for a top four team. And I'm not convinced by Doku either though he has scored a couple of crackers.
Oscar Bobb is probably the best wide option in the long run but it will take time to get back to full fitness.
We need to buy a couple of players who are ready to start, not to sit on the bench.

Not able to impose himself physically for that position. And God knows I've defended the man. But no, not there. You might say, well, Gundo, neither. And I'd agree with you.
Nunes can be much more useful out on the wing on in attacking midfield.

It's a long shot, but you know, something I've been thinking about for some time — Kev playing further back, in defensive midfield. He's such a superb reader of the game, it might be worth a punt. Over time, he's got to start playing deeper, anyway. The lung-busting attacking midfielder games over ninety minutes, those are finished. Pep's very good at reinventing players. This might be his latest.
Kdb is only 75 percent of the player he was prior to injury’s but we would be really fucked as he still plays passes no one else can in the final third. The one that is dissapointing is Foden, showing nothing but sure he will come good
