Crystal Palace (A) | Post Match Thread

Any right minded city fan knows that. Grealish is a good player but he was a luxury we didn’t really need let’s be honest
Should have sold Sterling after his much acclaimed England tap-ins, still have bought Grealish but also bought a striker - even if just a stop-gap one. Letting Torres go before a replacement was found was just ridiculous.

People are kicking off about no subs but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. We were camped in their half as we always want to be and we had our best players for playing that kind of game already on the pitch. What bothers me is players with genuine, proven technical ability failing to execute in the final third pretty much every time they had to produce something even remotely precise or accurate. That’s on them, not Pep. Sterling and Jesus weren’t going to improve on that either by the way and you’re deluded if you think they would have. It was on the players out on the pitch.
Utter shite, fresh legs against tired legs, Sterling speed, Jesus graft, Grealish and foden were begging to be subbed

Not enough shots in the second half and not enough quality on the final ball or finish on too many occasions.

People criticising lack of substitutions but I don't think that was a game for Rap and no particular reason to think Gabby would have seen anymore of the ball than Foden up the middle.

Need to stay calm.

A decent performance and very unlucky not to win. Ten men behind the ball, every game, is pissing me off, as are the commentators who made endless references to Liverpool, all game, and when they weren't, it was constant chat about how Palace could win.
Gave me a headache. Ruins the game

Why don’t Liverpool face the same thing? It’s like teams only set up to stop us but try to play against them, leaving themselves open to conceding.
Our dominance of the ball is the key factor, I think. Liverpool are not as dominant in possession terms and exploit turnover aggressively.

Jesus and Sterling were disrespected here imo. We couldnt hit a barn door today, awful form in finishing from Foden, Mahrez, Grealish, Bernardo everyone really.

A fresh pair of legs wouldnt have costed us in any way upfront but maybe gives their defence something to worry about. Jesus and Sterling ust be feeling they are not trusted in key situations like this. I expect them to not renew really. their finishing aint great either, but they might add something extra. certainly as much at least as all those fluffed chances others served up tonight.

my big worry is 3 teams we fucked up in first half of the season: Spurs, Soton, Palace, we could have learnt from those game, tactically for Pep too, and second half of the season: Spurs loss, Soton 0-0, Palace 0-0.

0 goals scored in 5 games vs Spurs, Palace, Soton. And we had bunch of chances. Liverpool got 15 points in these or similar.

bit symbolic imo that 3 of our failures i the autumn came back and haunt us again and Pep couldnt manage to come up with a winning plan against them or we couldnt execute it if he did.

quite pessimistic now regarding the title seeing Liverpool's form, the extra motivation now they can go into the Arsenal game.

Klopp played perfect mind game imo, taking pressure off from Liverpool, saying things even now when they got very close that City is so much ahead, and then saying he doesnt even know which day City is playing usually, thy not putting pressure on City yet etc etc.

look at the table in mid January and look at it now, and its very different now.

we need a lucky ass CL draw otherwise I can see April being horrible for us with the Pool PL game being sandwiched between CL QFs
this kind of finishing will be punished in CL against a decent opponent very quickly.

If Arse goes down to the scousers we will have 1 point lead only. and Burnley will use next 3 weeks to practice probably to just somehow get a shit 0-0 against us in next PL game and if we finish like this that is not unlikely.

Some shit shows this evening against a very modest quality Palace side…..couldn’t score a goal against that utter crap defence in 2 games is quite an achievement.
Cancelo needs a rest, appalling 2nd half performance, pinging crosses miles over the heads of our players left right and centre, giving the ball away as well....this guy is horribly inconsistent
Poor from Rodri too, barely made a forward pass and left passes short all evening
Two sitters missed from Bernado.
After all Mahrez’s talk this week, turns in his worst performance for ages.
Foden’s touch was off tonight.
Handing the initiative to Liverpool with some rank mediocre performances in the last couple of months, veering from superb to mediocre on a weekly basis at the moment.
Shout out to the the usual happy clappers in the match day thread.
I'll not be watching Arsenal v Liverpool later this week.
Crikey! You are a barrel of laughs.

In my opinion am expecting more from him.
That’s fair enough generally speaking but tonight he did well. He gave Bernardo a chance that my mam could’ve scored.

sone players deserved criticism tonight, he isn’t one of them.
