Crystal Palace (A) | Post Match Thread

The problem with him for me is his performances are very mixed. Does some things very well and very bad in the same game. Like when he was asleep for the free kick when he let Zaha run off him.
He gets the ball and Looks forward but hesitates when he’s about to pass forward and he did it a few time yesterday where he passed it short to Haaland and he had to give away a cheap foul because of Akanji bad passing

Agree with the first and last the other two are just as guilty.
I think we have some perverse set up when it comes to chances - Haaland misses, Hoooolihaaaaan would score if he had the chance, Jack's effort is blocked and had it fallen to Haarland it's in! I think there is a sociological, psychological term for this - 'Typical City'!

We conceded 0 clear chances. Clear chances for us:
- Penalty
- tap in by Haaland.
- Rodri's shot.
- Haaland cross + reboind that almost got in.
- Grealish shooting completely alone and missing it.
-Foden's free kick.
- Haaland's header completely alone inside the box.
- Alvarez 1v1
- Haaland 1v1

That's 9 clear chances against 0 away against a team that is always hard for us. As I said, sensational.
I've just posted a reply that would suggest that if yer swapped those names around and gave them each others' chances we'd win 9-0!

Maybe just me but I really didn’t enjoy that performance at all. I thought we were sloppy and slow and gave the ball away far too much. Coupled with CP usual tactics it was a hard watch. Good result although we are winning tough rather than beautiful. Thought Rodri and Jack were good. Our back 4 not great with Aki the best and most consistent.
Sorry but I don`t know what game you were watching, As for me and all the City fans in my local last night we thought that it was a great display from the blues, against a team who really didn`t want to lose and were more than content to grab a point.

problem is we won't get 11 more scruffy wins. We are garbage once we get to the penalty box. Teams are just putting 10 men behind the ball and waiting for us to pass and pass and pass and then fuck up and get caught on the counter. Some teams with less ability can't wait to get to the wing near the area and cross it. We can't wait to get to the opposition wing near the box only to then pass it back and work an opening on the other wing then pass the ball all the way back to Ederson. We got away with it today with a silly penalty, apart from that we never looked like scoring.
Apart from the one Haaland put over the bar..or the one Jack put wide or the header Haaland put over the bar or the shot by Rod..yeah we never looked like scoring.
We created plenty of chances mate..it wasn't like they ever looked like scoring.
It's difficult to break down teams like Palace when they have no thought other than to defend deep and hope we have an off day in front of goal.

Watching from the comfort of the pub, and with no sound on, I thought it was a 7 or maybe an 8 out of ten performance.
Horrible night at Selhurst; gave them absolutely nothing really; created great chances and was looking like we were never going to score; then, out of the blue, we get a penalty! The man - whose been missing everything else on the night - gets the ball and smashes it in - no nonsense! That was great to behold. And we went on to secure the away win without much difficulty.
KDB bonus - he looked good on the ball after coming on. Let's pray he's back in business as we need his creativity and drive.
Unbeaten in 8. All to play for. Pressure's back on Arsenal.
Come on Fulham!

It may have been frustrating Sadds, but I thought we created enough in what was a very tight last third and an even more crowded box.
We were very purposefully playing short passing on the edge of their area, trying to find that last pass.
For various reasons, the last ball was either not received, intercepted, mis-controlled or in the case of Haaland and later Alvarez, the final shot or execution of very good movements was just lacking their normal composure.

Palace are a horrible team to play against. We got a penalty which some would consider fortunate for us, but I say it was well deserved and confidently dispatched.

But ultimately what I’m seeing in City recently is a real purpose in how they are trying to beat these type of teams. You can see a plan that has been worked on on the training ground.
It’s not working perfectly but you can see that everyone has bought into what they are trying to achieve.

I’m with Pep on his positive reinforcement of how we are playing and progressing recently whether that be Notts Forest or Arsenal we’re judging them on.

The performances have been inconsistent over the season and even within the same game sometimes, but I definitely am seeing improvement and togetherness.

A 1-0 away to Palace is an excellent result.
