Crystal Palace (H) | Post Match Thread

This is a valid point. A lot of fans are flappers. They revert to the "get it forward" routine when things are going a bit awry.
It's like watching a chess master play with Pep in charge. Fans don't see the game as he sees it, and they only recognise the genius after he has check-mated the opposition.
I'm ashamed too say that , I did shout get it forward quicker yesterday :-)

Human nature, mate. I feel the same, but I know the guy in charge has got his marbles rolling around in his head at light speed working it all out, so I don't have to.
:-) I tend to flap a little, none of this Pep out shite or boo a player bullshit, but I do shout the odd "stop fannying about with it and get it forward" ....might be my age cos my son who's 16 is so so calm. He says stop worrying dad, Pep and the players knows what they're doing. 2 nil down and he wasn't worried at all at HT. Total contrast to me!

Conditioning over decades takes a while to shake off. We've got the psychological scars of when the managers and players didn't know what they were doing.
Oh, to be a young fan these days! :D

I fucking hate time-wasting, but if a referee allows a team to get away with it, then you can’t really blame a team and its manager for employing such tactics.

For those wondering, the booing was for the ref allowing Palace to get away with blatant time-wasting. At least, it was from me.

On another note, the tactical brilliance of Pep was highlighted in his decision to take off Cancelo and Mahrez and replace them with Álvarez and Gündoğan, and go three at the back with Foden and Silva as wing-backs.

Then, once the game was won, return to a back four by replacing Håland with Gomez.

Pure genius.

Oh I've got no time for the time wasting and associated antics.

Pep mannaged the 2nd half extremely well; as did our players.

But had 'the process' been completed when the Palace player intercepted the clearance? That is to say Eddie was not 'in the process' of releasing the ball.
The Palace player didn't appear to be intentionally impeding Eddie and therefore did not prevent him from releasing the ball and only stuck his foot out and made contact with the ball when it had been released i.e. after completion of the process.
Not that I'm bothered. I'm delighted the ref saw it differently.
Anyway their player should IMO have been sent off for the arm into Cancelo's face just prior to their second goal ( or at least penalised which would have meant the goal would not have materialised).

No the process had not been completed.

Funny thing is we were poor yesterday in the first half precisely because we were lumping it into the box!

It's going to be scary how many goals this team will score if Haaland stays fit. Yesterday just highlighted his natural instinct as a goal scorer. Throw in his strength and speed and teams will have to put two defenders on him to try and keep him quiet. Leaving space for others. Exciting times lie ahead .
His third really was an amazing bit of football. Run at speed between two defenders, take the ball in his stride while holding off a 14 stone centre back and leaving him on his arse, all while maintaining balance and slotting the ball into the corner. Keeper no chance. Not sure I have seen anything like that too often .....
