CSKA Post Match Thread

Simply not good enough tactics and performances from the team. Mentality is key in CL, well what you can say about our mentality in second half? What was our mentality? Lost balls so easily like it would have double their wage...
Defence was pretty open, in midfield areas they had no problems to attack even when Fernandinho,Fernando were both on, and before that even more.

Yaya, Silva hardly helped out in defending. You cant and wont get away with that. Yet we keep doing it and keep punished for it.

Where is the energy, the "go trough the fucking wall" mentality from us in CL? Why we only have it about 10-20 minutes in a 90 minute game on average?

Its pretty clear our style that cant be changed worth only as much as it seems. Do we have to practice this style for another 3 years to be defensively sound? We cant defend at this level and win games 1-0 or 2-0 its clear. We bought Mangala and Fernando for this exactly? Did our defence became any better?Did it? Not just CSKA match but in any way? Their duo cost us nearly 50m pounds, and yet we are very open and defenders still keep doing stupid mistakes.
Midfield sometimes just doesnt track runners. Or always late.

Mangala looked a 3m defender not a 32m. If Nastasic is like him Pelle would bench him for good.As he did...
Fernando came to make us more stable in CL. Yet we cant hold a 2-0 lead in CL with him. Also the way he gifted a goal to Spurs few days ago.

We needed to strengthen the squad in the summer had 3 months for it I cant see this team or even the squad is much better. Certainly not in the rate the spending happened.

Costa/Fabregas didnt cost much more than our all spending but they take Chelsea and turn them into a monster that keeps winning games.
For us a 36 year old Lampard is the best signing that effectively makes us stronger. For another 3 months maybe...

Think wer wasted the summer and also failed to improve tactically. We still cant defend very well but vs most PL teams we get away with it. In CL we dont they punish us.

I can't quite believe I'm reading such posts. To call for pellegrini's head is outrageous.

Im not calling for his head but he is completely at fault with his lack of tactical flexibility and refusal to change

We fucked ourselves, pathetic to blame officiating.

A bit like the sun coming up each day, referees make shit decisions.

If only our talent matched our arrogance and naivety.

Time to face facts, this set of players don't have the urgency required to play at this level.

And just like the bollocks performance against Blackburn in the FA Cup, which ensured another game we could have done without, we're now looking at an extended campaign in the Europa League.

Pellegrini has shown far too much loyalty to certain players, who have repaid him and the club by mugging him off.

The elephant in the room remains the liability which is Toure.

He's offering nowt and much more of this and we will have to pay him off to join another club.

Scapegoating yaya is so predictable......the manager is at fault for the basic poor tactical decision of playing a midfield 2 again that is too easy to play around...his tactics are hanging out the players to dry...its happenign time and time again and was there before we scored today and is present in every single game.....happened vs spurs numerous times but we got a way with it especaily in the first half...There are huge gaps infront of our back 4....yes its because yaya cannt defend BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT!!!!!!! so why keep asking him to do that....let him do what he is best a....ply him in a 5 man midfield in europe and we would be fine.

Im in no way saying MP should be sacked but HE IS TO BLAME for showing a complete lack of tactical flexibility

zabba - kompany ----mangala ----clichy

----fernnado-------- fernadihnio

jovetic----------yaya--------silva-----

--------------Aguero---------------------------

milners lack of quality really shows in europe (He may of scored toinght and worked hard but he was very poor) as it does when he plays for England

Kolorov is a defensive liability (regardless of whether it was a penalty or not he is a huge weak link) - clichy is the far better defender and kolorov ball watches and gets caught constantly with the ball in behind him...not just tonight but in all the big games he plays in.

the set up above is much more solid while still attacking enough to get you goals...jovetic is adaptable enough and intelligent enough to play deeper and wider (he can also defend while having the the ability to play intelligent passes and support aguero ................. navas is less effective against sides who park the bus

having the 2 covering midfields free up yaya and also stops us relying on silva to defend and track back as much while fernandihnio has the engine to play box to box while knowing fernando is covering him as well.

We haven't any tactics to start with!

I agree with you regarding Toure Tolmie

However, you are letting off Pellegrini......he continues to play 442 in a competition that we have done nothing in and then wonder why we keep failing

It isn't the Premier League with technically inferior players. Most teams have players who can play and if you give them an inch they will take advantage.

It may be harsh, but I believe we should be asking serious questions of the manager's ability to get it right in Europe.

get klopp in for me
Really..!
You want pellegrini out?
And I get called a fucking rag!!

You think Pellegrini's management and tactics in Europe will be shrugged off by our owners? I don't. That was abject tonight from all concerned on the pitch, and clueless from those off it

The 2nd half was the worst I have seen us play since Pellegrini's early days. We were absolutely shocking and got exactly what we deserved. Kolorov and Zabaleta were poor and Mangala looks like someone who should have cost £12m not £32m. What was he doing for their first goal?

Not one player in the second half performed to their potential and it has probably cost us our place in the last 16.

These players need to fucking pull their finger out in the next 3 matches because the owners are not going to keep putting up with these shit European campaigns.

Shocking to throw two points away like that.

We are a mile away from the Munichs, Barca and Madrids of this world and can't even compete with the likes of Moscow and Roma.

This totally. The 2 up front nonsense is a joke that Pellefgrini perpetuates again and again in big games. Unlike you however I think he should be sacked at the end of the year.
