CSKA Post Match Thread

It's actually frightening how far we are off the likes of Bayern, Real, Barca or even teams like Atletico Madrid.

European Success will come, but it won't be for a long, long time.
Thsts why its not frightening. The first 3 have been doing it for decades. It doesn't just happen overnight, you have to work at it and earn it. Our players need to get thst into their heads.

Not calling for the manager's head at all but the team and tactics were puzzling.

4-5-1 at home against spurs on Saturday. 4-4-2 away to cska and Kolarov for Clichy, in what you would think was a harder game. It looked like a caution to the wind approach but we didn't play like that, we were controlled, attacking and defending at the right time. What the fuck happened?

We have to face it. We are a second rate team in Europe. We don't deserve to be in pot 1 anytime soon. PSG is ahead of us at the moment. We just have this mental block in Europe that cause us to underperform. I don't know why

its tough from the start when we are hampered by UEFA with the co-effiency bollocks that ranks us like we finished 4th in the league and not as Champions. But if we play shite against good teams in Europe then we aint going anywhere.

Its a competition where you has be tactically superb, top of your game, have quality throughout and a bit of luck ... frankly i don't think we have any one of those things at the moment.

Premier League is the priority and always should be. Won't get anywhere, let alone win the thing when we have to carry some players at times. If UEFA wants to fuxk us over again next season, if i was the owner, i'd withdraw and tell UEFA to go fuxk themselves at the same time.

I actually look more forward to playing in the Europa League against the likes of Feyenoord and Fiorentina than playing in this corrupt Chumps league shit.

Had way better football experiences in matches against the likes of Poznan than some of the "top" clubs in Real madrid.

There is a wolf at our door. The real enemy and turning on our players and manager is exactly what they want.

We need to collectively tell UEFA we have had enough of their bullshit!

Win the Prem again this season, that is what we need to do. Fuck this bollox competition.

Bayern 2 up tonight.
3 - 0
Is this the same Roma team we played a few weeks back ?
Even better side then we played says a lot about our team.
were not good enough a european side this is our 4th season init look at psg took it like a duck to water in 2 seasons they will win it before us

Think its fair to say that Bayern will have to give us the three points for us to have a remote chance to progress but in any case we are well off the required level to be competitive in Europe.

The way Bayern are set up they are more dangerous away from home.

Seriously they could maul is away from home as they are doing in Rome.

Not learned anything from playing in Europe, too slow in build up play, we don't press high enough up the pitch, 4-4-2 doesn't work, too lightweight in midfield, Pelli and Mancini played the same tactics in this competition, and the players have a lot to answer for. Some just not good enough for where the owners want to be.

4!! And this is an even stronger Roma side than we played haha. Bayern with robben will spank us silly.

Some of the comments on here are utterly disgraceful to say the least
In the first half there we hardly put a foot wrong and were dominant not even allowing csk a shot so its not the case of us not being able to perform at this level and it was just a poor second half display which was mainly down to complacency and players are at fault and not pellegerini

Its fair that Pellergrini is getting some stick on here a Sunday league manager would have known to play one up front tonight any one with a brain said so beforehand.

But how do you legislate for Kompany, Zabaleta, Silva, Toure Milner (obviously), Fernando and Dzeko all turning in absolutely shambolic performances in the 2nd half that from a professional point of view beggared belief. No matter what formation or tactics you have would not have worked the way they were playing. They need a good bollocking (but from who? its easy come easy go at the club) there is more to it than picking you money up in these games we are undone time and time again in CL.

I am sorry everyone but we need to talk about James (aka Jimmy, Jamie some great passes into touch and pinpoint 3 feet passes to the Moscow players) at some point....but not tonight......

PSG have done better than us since their sugar daddy invested heavily. Our investment in comparison hasn't paid off

I disagree. It happened almost overnight with Atletico and Dortmund. They just sprang to life quickly and challenged for the trophy. No reason we should not be challenging, except... well, I question the players more than the manager. There is a collective lack of hunger that has spanned two completely different regimes (authoritarian Mancini and loveable Pellegrini).

Two things Atletico and Dortmund had in common despite playing totally different styles: they were fearless and got in the face of any team, no matter what their standing and reputation.

Awful officiating. You just can't get away from it. It effected the result whether we like it or not.

As to the tactics, I think if you watched the first half then you know the level they can play at. You can't legislate for every one of our attacking four/five players being very very poor collectively and individually in the second half.

I said before the game it was a must win. We haven't. What that says about Pellegrini, it's difficult to say. I think it's almost impossible that he'll be sacked next summer but he'll be acutely aware of how important the CL is and this is his second shot at it and we haven't looked any better.

We need to dust ourselves down because we go to West Ham this weekend and in the weekly narrative that's just become a big game.

Maybe, just maybe, we should change tactics for European games?

IMO that isn't the only reason we didn't win tonight and it isn't even the biggest reason we didn't win.

I can't pretend to know what their domestic record has been since their investment, but does it better ours?
