Cyclists

Nothing wrong with 3 abreast for me... same for a motorcyclist (i'm one) who commands their position in the centre of their lane. riding in the gutter is fatal..

Cyclists 3 abreast force drivers to overtake them properly.. in my experience however lots of drivers make the wrong decision to overtake.. especially before junctions... they should wait if the alternative is pulling in too late

I am a motorcyclist as well and agree you need to command your position at traffic speeds unfortunately cyclists do not travel at traffic speeds especially on national speed limit roads

Why don't cyclists have to have insurance, like motorist's have to have?

I know that they are not driving a motor vehicle, and just a vehicle.

But they can still be involved or cause road traffic accidents.

Seems bizarre in this day and age to me.
You'll find that many do, when I used to cycle everyday, I was insured up to the hilt, for personal injury and any accident I may cause, but just like the fuckwits who drive cars like idiots, you get fuckwits on bikes who haven't a fucking clue, just like you get fuckits on mopeds and motorbikes delivering pizza screaming round like idiots with a death wish wearing L plates.
The roads are to be shared by all, but those in the biggest cars, vans trucks seem to think they are somehow entitled to a priority service at times, we've all seen massive trucks on the motorway change lanes without indicating, just as we've seen the 4x4 brigade throw their weight around with smaller cars, and we've all witness's cars getting irate with cyclists because they dared cycle on the same road, and slowed them down for a few seconds.
When I'm on my bike I've stopped numerous inexperienced cyclists and given them "some advice" on their road use, some either don't realise how much danger they're actually in, ( no helmet, headphones on, weaving and no-handed in the middle of the road) or don't give a shit, some have had no lights on at night, wearing all black and almost hit me doing serious speed, when I offered this cyclist some timely advice he chased me for a mile, and was quite upset that I had the audacity to call him a fucking idiot, when I hilighted the fact that he as a danger not only to me and other road users, but he was likely to get killed, it didn't matter!
There should be a basic training programme cyclists must complete when purchasing a bike, and any cyclist seen being a danger to themselves or others should be forced to attend a cyclist awareness programme, much like errant motorists have to, or have their bike confiscated.

Irrelevant for me if they are wearing hi viz... drivers simply need to pass them like they would a car or other vehicle

The most annoying habit of truck drivers (I am class 1 but not driven one for ages) is indicating then manoeuvring immediately... grips my shit as it often leaves drivers in the middle lane on the anchors as there is nowhere to go..

I don't usually have a problem with cyclists but because of the area I have been working in last week I have had close experiences with three.
Actually four, two of them were on a tandem bike. One of them rode right into the back of my pick up, fell on the floor in a heap then got up and rode away.
Cheeky ****.

No wonder you were chased by him. If he's that much of a fucking idiot then natural selection will sort it all out. What he didn't need was for a Lycra clad day glow busy body pointing out the error of his ways.

On my commute to work I see countless examples of poor behaviour from all types of road user, from pedestrians to HGV drivers.

Only this morning I saw a cyclist riding no-handed down a steep hill. The lights at the bottom of the hill had just turned green, and the idiot (no helmet; wearing headphones) thought it was perfectly safe to continue weaving in-between the 2 lines of traffic, still no-handed. I honestly though he was going to get wiped out.

Another incident on this hill last week. 30mph speed limit; 2 lanes for about 150 meters; down to a single lane at a tight RH bend; steeply uphill. I was front of the queue at the lights. set off up the hill at 30mph being overtaken by a few cars, got to near the top of the hill with a car alongside who was slowing down to drop in behind me. As he dropped in, a motorcyclist who was hanging off his bumper shot past him and gave him a load of abuse. At this point, I was on the apex of the bend (single lane) and the motorcyclist cut right between my front bumper and the oncoming bus causing us both to brake. I gave him a quick toot on the horn, and he turned and looked at me, turned forward again and jumped on his brakes. I could have quite easily swerved into on-coming traffic or knocked him off his bike, but I'd already decided to give him space as he was clearly a loon. It's times like these that I wish I had a dash-cam, because this idiot is likely to leave a trail of destruction in his wake at some point, and ride off into the sunset.

Another thing that really pisses me off is when motorcyclist think the have the right to weave to the front of the queue at traffic lights (generally in conflict with the on-coming traffic), then stick their front wheel over the white line, angled across the bumper of the car at the front. I'm all for letting motorcyclist in, but when they clearly put two fingers up to the Highway code, I have no time for them. I understand they are more vulnerable than car drivers, but they don't help themselves sometimes. I saw a motorcyclist last week who was actually riding sensibly, courteously and following the Highway code. He was stopped at lights a couple of cars in-front of me and I almost wanted to get out of my car and shake his hand, because where I live it is certainly a rare occurrence.

I'm not deliberately having a go at just motorcyclist/cyclists; these are just recent examples. I think everyone needs to chill out on the road and consider other road users. Car drivers need to remember how to actually look more than 6ft beyond their bumper, or check their mirrors. Also, when changing direction, actually look where they intend to put their car. I often see people make a right turn into a blind road without even turning the heads to look; almost like they are wearing a neck brace. And don't get me started on mobile phones...........
