Dangerous Dogs

This was always a huge problem with our old Collie, he got savaged by two dogs wandering round loose when he was a puppy (barely survived) and while he was never left loose and we managed to get him to the stage where he was OK with other dogs he knew, he'd always attack any strange dog that approached him and he'd be out to kill, not to tussle. I always warned people but they'd just fucking talk over me telling me how nice their dog was up until the point their poor dog got hurt. Ended up just getting out of bed to walk him at 2/3 am when there was nobody around.

Strangely enough, I don't have this fucking problem anymore now I'm walking either a doberman or a bulldog depending on which of the dogs I've got out. Shame really as they love meeting new dogs.
Never heard of a killer collie. Why not get a muzzle and spend 3 more hours in bed ? This sounds like your having a laugh.

Apparently a good chunk of deaths where an old person dies from a fall is from the little feline shitbags that lives with them tripping them up on the stairs.
If they wanted to eat them and they were smart they'd just suffocate the fuckers in their sleep.

Experience pretty much the same with our own collie, except he wasn't attacked anywhere near as drastically thankfully. The beach would be a no go at peak times, same with parks. Earlier in the day or around about this time would work. But the amount of idiots who just won't listen.....

So true, the thread went to veiled and unveiled threats of killing people who don't like dogs in public in half a page!

just ban the the breeds with locking jaws and any other aggressive types such as rottweilers et al. Problem solved

I agree something needs to be done but simply banning breeds doesn't work. Especially when some "breeds" such as XL Bullies dont have any official breeding standard. When they've banned breeds before, they've struggled to actually ascertain whether some specific dogs are or aren't illegal. There's isn't the resource to police or enforce it.

"Aggressive types" is such a vague term. Rottweilers aren't especially aggressive by nature.

Personally, I find being in the vicinity of dogs such as XL bullies and American Akitas etc stressful AF. Dogs are complex and emotional creatures and can be spooked by the most innocuous thing. If one of those gets spooked then you're in serious trouble.

See a lot of people with XL bully type dogs posting them them online and claiming to be sensible owners and yet their dogs have their ears clipped which is not only illegal bit also dangerous as dogs needs their ears and tails to communicate with other dogs.

Well, we sort of need other people, so that's a bit of a dead end.
Dogs on the other hand have been superfluous for most of society for centuries. They stink, shit all over the place, contribute to global warming through their carnivorous diet and are generally a pain in the arse.
My dog is veggi , buries his shit in the woods and smells like lemons. He also guards my house and is a life saving companion for my housebound Mrs.
