So sorry to hear that. I can see from the reports your mate's wife was a lovely lady and loved dogs.Too many Knuckle-dragging morons with big dogs and no thought for other people.

Absolutely senseless that people think huge working dogs bred to herd cattle and guard properties make good family pets. These dogs should never be owned by lazy or inexperienced owners and are not known to be friendly to strangers.

They were on leads when they attacked her and her injuries were horrific. One of the owners was elderly and between the two of them they couldn’t stop it. She was a dog lover and there are pictures of their own Labrador (who recently passed away) at their wedding.

Some dogs are bred purposefully to be not friendly to strangers and for good reason. The problem is when they are used for purposes other than originally intended.

True but most people don't need guard dogs. Particularly people living in residential suburban or urban areas. If you need a dog to bark at people coming on your property almost all dogs do that. A golden retriever can project a "big dog" bark from behind a gate and scare people off.

Mass pet ownership is only a relatively new thing in the whole period of dog domestication. Some dog breeds are obviously far more suited to public parks and meeting strange humans and dogs and other's like XL bullies are completely inappropriate.

I saw those pics mate, but didn't want to go into too much detail or reveal names out of respect for the privacy of deceased and her widower.

But people are free to use search engines themselves.

Words fail me mate, almost all of these deaths come about from the owners carelessness.
