Friendly debate, it's what the site was made for.

I'll never change my stance on the signing being a risk as a first choice fullback, no. Because it is.

Will you change it if he performs well for us or are you gonna be one of those like the Sterling haters that will slag him off no matter how well they do?

Have Juve announced the news to stock market or does it happen before market opens the next day ?

Absolutely, I hope he's brilliant.

But ultimately it still would've been a risk if he's first choice, just one that happened to pay off.

If I win a bet at 1000/1 then yeah I won, great. It was still a big fucking risk!

For our 1st choice RB I agree but if there is another quality fullback coming in there is no discussion on the matter.

I'll still think he's a cnut no matter how well he does. I'm not compromising my integrity.

I think Yaya is a bit of a cnut.

Hyperbole? Possibly Alves 08/09 or 10/11 are close, what others compete in terms of complete seasons, both attacking wise and keeping clean sheets?

I saw plenty of Zanetti at Inter. Peak vs peak I'm 100% taking Maicon as he's the more talented player. Zanetti had the better career undoubtably.

How about Paolo Maldini 1988 - 1994?
Phillip Lahm 2002 - 2017?
Cafu 2003 - 2007?
Zambrotta 2006?

Maicon was a decent player, but he shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the ones above.

That's just a list of (admittedly great) right backs.

Did any of them ever put together a single season worthy of that Maicon year? The last 3 certainly not imo, maybe Lahm in Bayern's treble year? I'm not old enough to tell you about how good Maldini was in each of those seasons but I've seen enough of Maldini as a full back to know that his all round game (going forward as well as defending) wasn't as good as Maicon's. That's not to say Maicon was better than Maldini cos that's absolute bollocks but I haven't seen anything to suggest a better individual season than that one. Everything Maicon did that year was exceptional.

Depends how much of your net asset wealth you place on the bet.
