Agree PSG might have spoken to him and got a nice response and think they have a chance and just jumped the gun to the media

There seems to be a lot of support for this - Bleacher report and French press. Think we might have been guzumped. However, I do believe that if we had really wanted him, we would have wrapped up the signing weeks ago as we did with Silva.

Pep has a verbal agreement with him apparently
Can't see him upsetting pep for a few Euro's

If he isn't signing then surely it's the death knell for many itk posters on here who have been suggesting this was done

Because if it were done, as in complete then he couldn't change his mind could he?

All the ITK's have said is that he wants City and he will sort it out after his holiday.

As long as he hasn't signed a contract he can change his mind, even at the last minute. Can't blame the ITK's for that.

Anyway, we won't know the outcome till he has signed for someone, so lets not start flapping.

I wouldn't assume if he goes to PSG it's because of money... if that's the case then I'd be upset with Txiki because we can easily match what they offer, plus it was reported he turned down larger wages from Chelsea. If Alves has decided he wants to go to PSG I think (and hope) it's for other reasons like, Paris > Manchester (weather), he'd get a winter break, maybe they will make him first choice, Ligue 1 isn't a physical or competitive, etc. Perhaps Tite, the Brazil manager, has told him he needs to a strong season to be considered for a starting sport in the world cup...

Why? I always scoff when I see people write stuff like this. It's exactly the same as when we were in for Isco and everyone was saying there was no way Isco would turn down Pellegrini, how much he respected Pellegrini, how much he wanted to play for Pellegrini again and then he fucked off to Real Madrid.

End of the day players look out for number one not which manager they liked best.

Also he might have been offered first choice football.

If we sign Walker, Alves won't be first choice. Otherwise why would we sign Walker for £40m+?

Exactly... but i think he'd get good mins at City with PL schedule and 3 cups... we'll see what happens.

Am I the only one who does not care if we miss out on Alves? Yes he is/has been class, but he is 34 and not a long term option. We need 3 to 4 FBs who are young hungry and who will be here for the next 5 years or so. Alves would have been a stop gap not the answer. If he goes to PSG fair play to the lad he will have it easy and earn a fortune. I am the biggest flapper as there is but losing out on Alves does not worry me. If we get 3 decent FBs i fancy us to win the the league, if we get a CB and Sanchez also, I fancy us even more.

I agree in theory, but losing out on Alves might be a bigger deal if the "ifs" in the rest of your post don't materialize. We'll jerryrig something together and I'm sanguine whether true or not, but the mildly frustrating part for me continues to be no ready-made enough Academy grads to slot into the holes we have. Looking forward to someone growing into a role someday.

I really don't think he would do this to Pep or his reputation within the football fraternity. If I am wrong, fuck him. I want him to sign badly but mainly because of his character. If he does this, I have misjudged his character. If that is the case, I am happy with Walker and Dinho.

Hardly the end of the world losing out on a right back that will last 2 seasons maximum. I would be amazed at these rumors being true though.

He is not going to PSG. They have 2 first class RBs. They don't need a 3rd. Anyway, folks need to relax. Alves will come to City.

Alves wasn't even in the picture when Bernardo signed and I would say that me and most on here were really excited about our prospective summer, nothing has changed, Alves would be a cherry on top...

Well done, PSG and to Alves.

We will have to increase our offer as this is a negotiation ploy knowing our need for a right back, plans and viable second option for him.

This is all about negotiations and PSG hoping to hurt us a bit, increase their stature. He won't get so many games I think there.

No need to panic.
