Of course it's a big deal. He was free for a start now we need to sign Walker for a ridiculous amount AND buy a back up right back and then train them up to play Pep's way when Alves knew it inside and out. It's a proper pain in the arse this falling through.

I was thinking the same. I'd like to go back and see which ones were the ageists and if any of them are flapping. Would be interesting to see who flaps for the fun of it.

Fabinho could definitely be tempted, rumour is Monaco want €45m, Atletico are in for him too though (but obviously wouldn't be able to play for them till January). Semedo from Benfica is also an option, so there's 2 good full backs available for £40m or less.
