It’s not constitutional to arrest someone in Illinois for mere possession of a gun without checking that they have a registration first.
The cop was at fault though, he had the upper hand of training and an advantageous position but full of adrenaline from chasing the kid, he got frightened and squeezed too soon.

yeah there’s a big difference to chasing a boy you know is armed down a dark street to sitting behind a keyboard telling him what he should’ve done
