David Bowie RIP.

Huge loss
Like many he was the soundtrack to my teenage years
I bought Man who Sold the World when I was 14... One of the first I ever bought..my little sis bought the single of Starman with her pocket money at 12yrs old.....

RIP: a genius .....

devastated , i was looking forward to more albums from the man , an absolute genius , seen him several times live , a rock icon , a sign of old age when all your heroes are dying Lou Reed , David Bowie , but the music will lives on forever , R-I-P , Starman.

Only me who doesn't like his music then, a few tracks excepted? I can appreciate he was a pioneer and an icon, but his music is not for me.

RIP Bowie
Bowie was one of those rare people in whatever field where you dont necessarily have to be a fan of their work to understand and appreciate the impact and contribution they have made in their field. He created art in the form of alter egos but had the courage to move onto the next episode of his life whilst the current one was at the height of its power. His influence across so many different genres of music is undeniable. I am a fan and today im just gutted but i defy anyone not to be able to find at least one bowie track they dont enjoy, such was his ability to succesfully cross conventional musical boundaries. Its like oasis making a rock n roll album then a year later to equal success creating an electronica album. He will be missed.

You forget just how many great songs he wrote a true innovator and fantastic musician Saw him live a few times in the late 70's
like queen not listened to any of the music for a while non the less he will be missed

Sad news one of the few artists who changed with the changes in music over the decades, among many of his songs that stood out for me,starman, life on Mars, ashes to ashes and sufragette city..ziggy has played his guitar for the last time RIP...

Don't disagree with any of that. I definitely loved one of his songs.... The one from Extras ;)

I always knew this one would hit hard when it happened. Probably because he was the first artist I could call my own. My parents influenced me with the Beatles and Neil Young, et al, but Bowie I discovered on my own.

Last year Leonard Nimoy hit me hard. The only other ones that are going to be up there for me are Bill Murray and Tom Baker.

His music will live on, but damn does it hurt now.

Do people really get upset at celebritys dying? Said RIP like his music but I'm not devastated, I must be emotionally void!

Got a real shock when I heard this morning. One of the real pillars of pop, alongside people like Lennon and Dylan. But he was so much more in some ways, so many personas and so much musical variety. But underneath it all, he seemed like someone you could have a pint with. A real immortal.
