The best passing midfielder this club has ever seen and arguably will ever see. He's been judged on this forum for the other things he doesn't do as well. You could crticise any player for things they don't do as well as others.
For what he is in the team to do he is the best.
Attitude never in doubt unlike some of the other so called best evers...
Pity his name doesn't get sang anywhere near as much as some others.

Absolutely agree mate. Not only the best for me, but a true professional on and off the field

What I've loved about Dave this season is that fact he's been getting stuck in and nicking the ball off players and starting many attacks

I remember reading or hearing during Martin Petrov's time at City that people in this country are too obsessed with what players don't do well, rather than celebrating what they are best at.

That was the case with Petrov and is certainly also the case with Merlin. Too many are quick to criticise what they perceive as his faults, instead of praising all the fantastic aspects of his game.

You've hit the nail on the head. Just because someone supports a team for 20, 30 plus yeaes doesn't give you an understanding of the game.. in our cases it does make you pretty much an expert in moaning though

Has he ever done an in depth interview? Love him.
Think he's done 1.. can't quite remember for certain but think it was the Daily Mail not too long ago.

He shuns the media and the fame. He does have a bit of banter with a radio reporter in Spain.

He is under appreciated and he questions why? Not from an ego point of view from a pure footballing one

Tell him it's because he doesn't play in red and only passes sideways. ;-)
