David Silva retires from football (pg13)

We, as City fans, were privileged and so lucky to have seen David weave his magic for so many years. He was one of the most gifted footballers on the planet and yet incredibly humble at all times. Thinking of his 10 glorious years at City just brings a smile to my face. Thankyou David for all the pure enjoyment you gave to us all and the very best of luck in the next phase of your life...adios amigo!!!.

A Villa fan at work once told me that a flick from Silva against them was one of the greatest pieces of skill he'd seen - I think he had a defender behind him, flicked the ball with his left foot and ran round to his right.

The Spain World Cup winning coach (I think) said Silva was the toughest player he knew because he got kicked so much.

Glorious player to watch - so many times he made the pass before the scoring pass.
I was thinking exactly this a few minutes ago.

Merlin often played a perfectly weighted ball between the right-back and the right centre-back for Leroy to run on to, and either score, or more often, to provide the assist.

The best all round player I’ve ever seen for City.

My best memory of him is 2011/12 v Wigan at home. A mesmerising performance and a privilege to watch live.

He’s given us memories to last a lifetime. Thank you David.

When I was a kid in the early 70's and later,it was always
Bell,Lee, Summerbee.
Now I'm older its changed to my own saying

Bell,Silva ,De Bruyne.

Love you David , your craft has given me so much joy .

Brilliant player and a fabulous person, never caused any trouble got on with playing his best football for City.

Hull away 2014.
Kompany sent off very early.
Silva ran the show from then on.
Yes, that would get my vote as his stand-out performance for City, a cracking goal and then a perfect through ball to Dzeko for the second. So many other good memories too, I hope he gets over at some point so we can give him the send off he never had.

One of my favourite signings since the takeover. Under the radar and low key but maximum impact on the pitch. I don't think he'll come back to City as a coach but hopefully he'll comeback as an Ambassador.
