David Silva

Quick question, why the fuck did we only get him to sign a 4 year deal when he joined?

Most have signed on for 5 years.

Silva is the only member of our squad who is truly irreplaceable. We won't win the league without him. Ladyman should not be discounted. He has sources in and around Manchester and the club.

What I hope is its just a leak from silva's side as part of the negotiation game. But make no mistake, we must do what it takes to get him to sign. He's the nearest thing we have to world class and the rhythm section of our entire orchestra.
That's not true at all. We already have another player in the squad proving that there are plenty of players out there that can hold onto the ball in impossible situations and assist and score goals... Nasri. Silva isn't irreplaceable, he's top quality, but not the only top quality playmaker out there.

Nasri is not fit to lace silva's boots, trev. Nasri is a nice little footballer, silva is a world class match winner. If we lose silva and ask nasri to do the same job we won't win the league. There's an ocean in class between them. The only player I've seen in the world who could replace silva is messi. Silva can't finish like messi of course but in terms of vision, incisive passing and opening defences he's as good as there is.

Kagawa's better than Silva.

I couldn't agree more, he is irreplaceable.
Give him what he wants.

You massively underrate Nasri, Dave. He showed in the last 10 games of last season, and on Sunday that he can really step up. Plus I think if he continues that form he could easily get into double figures in terms of goals for us.

He isn't as good as Silva on his day, but to say there is an ocean in between them is a bit far, and he does things that Silva doesn't.

Unfortunately, Silva hasn't had a top quality game since about February. I know he was injured toward the end of last season, and I am sure he will reach his peak fitness, and playing ability again soon, but I think you need to give Nasri a bit more credit too.

Despite what I have just said, I agree, off the top of my head I can't think of a replacement for exactly what Silva does, but there are equally good players around him who do other things that are still, very good players.

When I hear "give him what he wants" I think of the poor Sheik. He can't afford to continuously throw money out just because. The club has to start playing hard ball with agents and players.

Put it this way.... If we want Messi in the future or some other ground braking signing we need to have been sensible for years beforehand. Waste year after year on excessive wages and well eventually barely sign a decent player.

Just IMO of course.
