I will wager he knew he was due to miss the game anyway through rotation and took his 1 match ban to get it out of the way ;-)

someone could help me here, because he got his booking b4 the 1st of jan, I think that his or any other player who got to 5 yellow cards instead of been reset, they will carry on to 9 cards and then will get a 2 match ban,

At least he will play against Blackburn now. I had visions of another 8/9 changes for that game and the slow tempo that results in.

Silva should open them up a bit.

Wow! I'm surprised some of you haven't reported him for spot fixing!

Silva has been reported to have said "I'm dissapointed to be suspended, but looking forward to my extra night on the tiles with my best mate DJ Campbell. I can then have a proper lie in on NYD and watch our 2-0 win at Swansea"*

*Allegedly. May not be true.

Hope everyone is as forgiving if we don't get a result at Swansea....not sure what the club policy is re players attending games with bans but I always remember McNab always got NYE off.

Great comparison. David Silva - in the opinion of some our greatest ever player - and Neil McNab!

As a number of Blues have said, David snuffed out a dangerous Palace counter attack with a clever foul. You deserve a game off Dave.

Going to be a big miss on Wednesday against Swansea . At least we will have are enforcer back for the Swansea match Yaya Toure

I think that if you got your fifth yellow card (or a red card) before NYD, you serve whatever ban is coming. The slate is wiped clean at midnight on 31/12, to the best of my knowledge.

I think!

On a related issue, have we had anyone serve a ban yet this season? Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone. No red cards yet;

Yaya in Champions League, i think that's it

Shame Garcia isn't more of a team player. Could do with him doing the right thing and getting a lengthy suspension
