Spanish international David Villa will train with Manchester City up until February ahead of his move to New York City.
According to Spanish press, Spain's all-time leading goalscorer David Villa will become the first major signing of new Major League Soccer side New York City FC, agreeing in principle to a three-year deal.
The Citizens, as they will be known, have been installed a new team and will begin in the 2015 season.
Villa, 32, who is waiting on Vicente del Bosque's decision regarding a World Cup place, will join Manchester City to train with them until February, according to El Pais.
The former Barcelona Champions League winner will not sign a short term deal, therefore he would not be allowed to represent City in the competitive matches.
He is expected to earn £2.8m per season in the Big Apple and could be joined by former Barca team-mate and Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who has also been linked with a move to the new franchise.
