David Villa..

He wouldn't be that cheap. You're looking at around £10million transfer fee and wages of at least £6million per year if his Barcelona terms are matched (which is what he seems to be demanding). If he gets a two year contract that's an outlay of around £22million for a guy on the verge of turning 32. Why not just give Tevez new terms? Much rather we sign someone like Soldado with more juice left in the tank and who has been a better 'goal scorer' recently. Villa's form for Barcelona hasn't been that good at all since his broken leg, he seems to have lost a step and his form for Spain against Uruguay and Tahiti is misleading. He only scored 6 goals in his last 20 games for Barca last season. The team that creates goal scoring chances galore.

Not good enough, however "cheap"
He's a top striker who's suffered from playing out of position.

He will be a good player for whoever signs him, you will see that soon enough.
Was a top striker. Watch Barca or Spain, far below level of Soldado and on below Torres's level

Below Torres my ass, he is still clinical as fuck. He would bang them in if he came to us. He has a burning desire to succeed and those are the sort of players we should bring to the club. Could get another 3 seasons out of him easy, with the final season being used as a back up striker.

Jesus Navas almighty.

Marv, you've surpassed yourself again.

One match and already you're stating Villa is below Soldado level. Laughable, it really is.

He plays out of position for Barca and imo they really missed him last season and the one before. Play him centrally and he's awesome still. You never lose your finishing, just pace which he still has, not quite as quick but still quicker than most.

-- Sun Jun 23, 2013 3:26 pm --

Torres is not fit to lace David Villa's boots.

High wages but he would do the business. Remember Larson at the scum ?
Yup, he was a marvel for them. Scholes came back 11/12 and was a key factor in their resurgence, even though closer to 40 than 30. Kevin Phillips is how old ffs, still has queues of clubs looking for his services as impact striker substitute.

Villa is a model pro, we should have him here and keep on as a forward coach if possible. We could always have him here on 4 year deal at lower wages due to length and the loan to NYFC when he starts to wane.

Seriously nip I'm really starting to question Marvin! What a miserable two the is and starting to come across as a bitter!
