David White appreciation thread

One of our own, easy to like him played like he loved to play in the blue shirt great memories I was also at villa the night he scored 4 top night for the lad and us

Great post - very good player, electric pace and he made Wayne Biggins look good by scoring all of his goals that were put on a plate for him by Whitey.
Hatrick in the 10-1, crossed for Oldfield and Hinchcliffe in the 5-1 and I won't ever forget his 4 against Villa.

Scored two incredible lobs at Anfield in a 2-2 draw. One was literally impossible and I can only think of Agueros, ironically, also v Liverpool as a comparison.

I was gutted when left for Leeds.if he would have slotted that early chance against Spain things could have been so different for him. Felt he was heartbroken to leave us, bit like Gary Owen, he gently drifted away

I was standing on the Holte End when he got 4, after Cowans had threatened to ruin us for 20 minutes.

The Villa fans were grudgingly admiring.
That will always be my lasting memory of him as a player, before the takeover that was one of the best individual performances by a player and indeed one of the best team performances, against a fairly strong Villa side that had been runners up the year before, unless I'm mistaken(beat them that year too!). I would have loved to have seen him play more often as an inverted winger, something that wasn't really common back then, I have a feeling he would have been devastating

I loved David White. A player with pace, finishing and crossing like White in today's market would cost about £100 million.
At least. He was that good. Great memories and good times while we were shit in and off the pitch. Still we all loved it as much as now, if not more in my opinion

It was, I had a perfect view of the one curled into the top corner from around the D (that's what my memory tells me anyway...)

I also remember Cowans (what a player he was) putting Platt through on the keeper, he sidefooted it past the keeper, turned and raised his arms to the crowd. The ball rolled marginally wide in front of the City support who stood as one and addressed him "aaah, you're shit!"

The Reid winner, on the day of the Strangeways riot? Or is my memory gone to pieces?
