Growing up, I never heard of that word, now it’s become the go to word if you don’t agree with someone of colour or more importantly, people being offended on behalf of others, who actually don’t feel offended …!!
The suggestion is that this guy was sacked for making a gesture, which is now commonly used by racists in the US, and I said I hoped context was taken into account, i.e. he was only sacked if he did it intentionally.
What that has to do with growing up in the 70s in Britain I don't know - but it seems an odd connection to particularly as 70s Britain is seen as a low point in terms of racism in the UK.
