De Bruyne?

Apart from KDB isn't a far superior player. Currently more effective and important at a smaller club yes, but I'd say PP has greater potential.

Why? KBD absolutely destroys Bayern every time his 'smaller club' plays them; Pogba is brilliant against pub teams like Chievo and Empoli. Wolfsburg would give Juve a run of their money in Serie A.

In what way does Pogba's potential eclipse De Bruyne's? The few games he's played in central midfield, KDB dictated the tempo of the game like a Modric/Verratti type, while Pogba's passing is average at best. He's more creative, scores more. More tactically versatile, more mobile.

Wolfsburg don't want to sell. They don't need money off the pitch, and on the pitch they know that even with £40, £50...£70m they can't buy players who are good enough to replace him. They have 0 incentive to sell unless they think he is going to demand to leave.

People on here are throwing out some really biazarre reasonings "They won't get this much again!" Well, yes of course they would if he keeps performing, and even if he didn't do quite as well, and they didn't get 100% of what we're offering now, the fact he'd get them into the CL for another season would more than make up the difference.

I'm not flapping, or trying to incite flapping in others, I just think the insanely arrogant "little german club can't turn down our £45m offer" that some people are posting is complete bollocks and those people should realise they can, they hold all the cards, and we're basically going to have to pay what they ask to get him- like we did with Sterling.
...but we won the war.

No. Wolfsburg just have no use for our money. It`s like someone would offer 200Mio€ for Aguero. We would say no because it is impossible to find a replacement. This is even harder for Wolfsburg, they are a fucking boring average team in an average league everybody already today knows who will win it. Wolfsburg officials have pointed out a hundred time that they don`t want to sell him. Our only hope was KDB to tell them he wants to leave, what still would be hard as Wolfsburg would still have asked for ridiculous money.

Player doesn`t want not to leave the club + Club that does not need money + low standing of the club + short time to find replacement = 0,01% chance to sign him.

Without a bid, which has been repeatedly stated, it's hard to determine. Reports stating they want £57m, if accurate, suggest they would sell. Not handing in a transfer request is different to a fee being agreed between clubs and Wolfsburg then asking KDB if he will go.

True. That did mean we were required to pay the asking piece of £49m though, albeit with add ons etc involved. If De Bruyne isn't considering a transfer request then Wolfsburg's "new" figure of £57m, as opposed to £47m mentioned previously, may need to be met to get him, which is a huge sum of money indeed.

We had to pay the asking, regardless. Remember our first bid was £25m!

Sterling was only earning £35k a week and had two years left, his impact on the situation was zero, outside of stating he would not sign a contract extension.
