This bloody deal, how is it on deadline day clubs get stuff sorted out in a matter of hours and this has seemingly been dragging on for eternity. Maybe we need to get twitcher in as our chief negotiator.

This transfer isn't like the sterling one where we had very little dialogue with liverpool, and the leaked and then officially rejected each offer. It seems we and Wolfsburg are in regular contact and a fee will be agreed quietly.

Think of the Delph transfer. The first news that broke was that it was done and dusted, he was heading for the medical when the news broke (which he didn't turn up for).

I think KDB will be the same. Wolfsburg announcing they've accepted an offer will be the first news. Or maybe KDB getting on a plane.

We won't go through the Public dance of bid, rejection, bid, rejection etc.

That's down to the manager not the players. You can hand pick the 4 best defenders in the world together with the best holding midfielder and they'll still look shit in our current system.

He will improve yes. Delph has attributes that Barry doesn't and vice versa.

Delph has great energy levels and is quicker than Barry, but the one thing why i think Barry was a very good player for us was because of his intelligence on a football field. His tactical nous and the way he rarely wasted possession of the ball. I think Barry's passing ability and awareness is better than Delph's. I saw Barry dictate games for City, especially against the Rags in a few games where we stuffed them, but i am not sure i have seen that in Delph yet, i may be proved wrong but we shall have to see.

Can we sell you too, as I think you are a bag of shit . He is A City player who after a promising start carried an injury for the remainer of thecseaon. All I have read for these last few pages is you and your mate stroking each others egos discussing how we continue to let you down.

True, but we had players equipped for that system and now we don't. Fernando does not protect the defence well whatsoever.

Good post but do you think a central MF of yaya and delph would do great agaiinst the pool away, u*d, arsenal and other matches of similar magnitude? If not who would you recommend instead? Oh! how I wish we went for Kondogbia. And yes have you watched Sevilla's Krychiowak or something, will he likely do well in our system?
 
The link to all this and KdB is tenuous, but it's there....

It's about KdB being a very exciting prospect for us, but do we need him as much as fixing weaker areas in the team? and if we do get him, what sort of midfield will support him?
That's how we ended up with discussions of our midfield weaknesses and if KdB will expose them further, or we simply outscore everybody and thus is doesn't matter?

I have kept an eye on Delph since we were apparently in for him when he was leaving Leeds. From what I have seen he has more to his game than Barry. He is like a more energetic and physical Fernandinho. It is unfair to compare him to Barry as Barry played in a far better Villa team than he did. Barry also played in a more solid City team where his lack of pace was not exploited. Delph will do a very good job for us and will surprise a lot of people. People will call him energetic, dependable and industrious. He could fulfil for us the role that Darren Fletcher played for the rags, where upon he put the graft in to allow Scholes time and space to orchestrate things. If Delph manages to allow Yaya to orchestrate the pace of the game and keep possession then we will have a good season.

Lescott at City back in his prime is better than Mangala, just an overall better defender with more of a football brain. This has been our issue for a couple of seasons. Against 90% of teams our midfield is more than enough - because our attack keep the ball in the final 3rd for most of the game.
Against the better teams, we've been exposed a little, particularly in Europe, and we've not really had a solution for setting up a battling midfield with 4 or maybe 5 players there. Too much flair and not enough guile for those situations.
I'm reluctant to say Yaya doesn't have guile, because I think he has, but I'm not convinced he's fit enough to exert himself for 75mins, let alone 90 or more.

If KdB can add some (in addition to his flair) then great. But if he's going to be all flair - that's not going to help us.

I am not saying he is a bad player, i just said i will not get carried away like some of us on here that think he is going to be the lynchpin of our midfield when all he is, is clearly a squad player to offer us a slightly different option in midfield.

The reason i prefer Barry as i have said, is because he was a much more intelligent footballer. Better passer, better shielder/protector of the ball, more maturity in his play, more tactical awareness on the field... Delph is a slightly different player who plays on adrenaline. Not a dictator or controller of a game, but a more high octane player who offers more pace and energy within the midfield. City tend to have the ball a lot more than other sides so it will be interesting to see if that kind of player will fit in our side. He will have to play a more patient game with us than he did at Villa, a more disciplined role. I shall be the judge of him this season, but i don't expect that much from him personally, however with Sterling the expectations are much higher because he is simply a better player.

It's not an easy job to convince someone else that you won't pay anymore when they know you have the financial means to. How do you make people think that, no, seriously THIS is the most you'll pay? The only way to do it is to take your time, look ponderous, like you are really questioning whether to go that high etc. that's what takes the time in my opinion. It was reported that Wolfsburg aren't giving us a definitive asking price to try and work against, which makes it even harder.

<50m would be a good deal in my eyes, if we get him for less than sterlings 44 then I think Everyone should be happy.
