De Bruyne?

Absolutely, its like people have been brainwashed into thinking we have a poor squad. We were well under our best last year and we were comfortably second but a fair way of Chelsea. We have 2 or 3 key players who if get back to anywhere near their best, added to the players we have and may bring in will push us on to another level again.

Totally agree, mate. So many things worked against us last year to stop us winning the title, but you could see in the two games against Chelsea we were better than them. And anyone who thinks we aren't a much stronger squad doesn't know anything about the abilities of Delph and Sterling, and De Bruyne when we get him.

I don't know where the "we aren't good enough" mentality comes from. The media? United fans? Just an innate pessimism in all football fans?

' Kevin de Bruyne has refused to rule out moving from Wolfsburg toManchester City.

The 24-year-old has been linked with various top clubs of Europe, including City and Bayern Munich.

Kevin de Bruyne told SPORT1 media: "I am not the one telling the people I am definetely going to stay. Just to move on two weeks later. You always have to keep these things without a definitive statement. I believe people know the way I am. I am just trying to stay loyal and tell the truth." '

I don't think Pogba & DeBruyne will win us the Champions League. We may do a bit better in it. Imo, we are building a new team/squad, & it will eventually be a lot better than the last one. It will take a couple of transfer windows more, to build it imo. Then we may be able to think about the CL.
I think due to our poor performances against the best sides, people have an over-inflated opinion of how good the best teams in Europe are. They have a core of world class players, and I think we have, but a lot of it is team unity, experience and belief. I think that will come. With knockout competitions you can never say "we will win it this year", but I think City will reach a final within the next 2-3 years and of course, anything can happen from there.

I'd liken it to the year we won the league in 2012. At the beginning of that season there was a mutual "we are still way off United" opinion amongst a fair number of fans. I remember argueing like mad on here the season we won the FA Cup that we had already overtaken them.

Looking forward to seeing De Bruyne in a City shirt. Don't agree with those who say we're weaker than last season - him and Sterling improve us considerably, and could be here a long time given their age.

Defence and central midfield still a slight worry
, but hopefully we'll just outscore opponents like in 2013/14.

I think the addition of Delph and what he could potentially bring to the team might surprise a few people and COULD be the solution to a few of our defensive woes. IF we get De Bruyne (and you appear to believe that this is a real possibility, much to my pleasure) and play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Sterling-Silva-KdB behind Aguero, that central midfield 2 could be made VERY defensive if Yaya is benched and the 2 is made up of 2 from Delph, Fernado and Fernandinho. Just my thinking, but I'd be a lot less worried by the defence if a solid "water carrier" midfield is placed in front of it.

I think we are on track but I just think the top few teams are that bit too good. But I wouldn't rule it out & I think we'll get there, but it might be in a couple of years with 'you know who' as manager.

I'd add that Vinny is a big factor in this one way or the other. We need him back.

Ono as a matter of interest how many points did playing Pozo and Milner cost us, from my recollection we nearly broke the club record for most league wins on the trot! I am not sure that can be called management catastrophe as its a game of results
That's fair enough because in the end it didn't cost us points but the fact that it didn't has more to do with luck than excellent foresight.

I wouldn't like us to be going into a run of difficult games off the back of a similar injury crisis....because we haven't acquired enough strength in depth this summer. We only have 4 central midfielders. 1 of them is world class. 1 of them is a level below but still very good, 1 is a good premier league player and the other is pretty much an out and out anchorman who didn't really look the part last season.

Anyone can see we need to improve in that area and signing a winger - no matter how good he is, doesn't fix that problem

You're dead right about Vinny. And Zab, Clichy and Ya Ya.

Mentioned this before but Barca added work rate to their star player talent last season so that German sides could not disrupt their possession football and it worked.
Are we likely to do the same or will top CL teams again appear to be so much superior ?
