De Bruyne?

Wondering that myself. A week from the season starting and we're hearing no bid on De Bruyne and no word on a bid for Pogba. No word of us looking for alternatives, either.

I don't get it. Would love for someone to explain what our strategy could be here.

Maybe we are not letting ourselves be taken for a financial ride by excessive transfer and/or wage demands? Paying a new player huge wages could trigger a round of demands from existing players. But who knows. My complete wishful thinking hope is that something awesome and unexpected will happen. Bale would do me. Not that I expect it but I'd love it.

I can understand the time line with Pogba deal, even if it doesn't turn out successful, I won't be surprised. But with KDB, I thought he should've been a City player by now.

I know Txiki isn't relaxing sitting on his couch, but whatever he's doing, he needs to do a little more. And fix what's broken.
ANY DEAL would or could have been completed long before now. It's all about offering a price that becomes a temptation to the 'selling' party. Sterling was never supposed to be for sale but in the end we got him. So as we hang around for the best part of two months with no word of bids ever being lodged for either KDB or Pogba, then what message is there other than Txiki being sat on his couch doing sweet bugger all?

I just love the fact that people who have not got a clue how to negotiate in high stake negotiations judge people who make a living at it (it's not just you by the way) I blame it on far to many computer games and fantasy football I am confident the deal will happen in it's own good time if it's right for the club, they don't seem to be panicking so why should we
Is suggesting he is sitting on his couch a bit silly - yes it is.
Is questioning quite why this deal has taken so long, considering we have apparently been involved for 8 months silly- no, it's not. It's quite valid.
If people want to voice their concerns, just let them, regardless if they are a professional at it or not? Have you ever asked questions about the performance of a professional footballer? Yeah, you probably have.

Saying Txiki is sitting at home watching the antiques roadshow and scratching his arse is stupid, yeah, because he obviously isn't, and will obviously be trying to get the deal done. But asking questions as to what the hold up is, isn't wrong, I don't think.

Theres a difference between I dont get it and Its piuss poor management . The former, many could relate to.as we don,t know what is happening. The latter just shows the poster
Is you mo to just jump on any post that is slightly critical?
Am I expected to understand that

I think if we sign neither KDB or Pogba then this window was a failure and imho if anything the squad was weakened with Milner, Dzeko, Jovetic and Dzeko gone. Guess you can count Lampard in that too.

Point being Sterling is a terrific talent no doubt but Deph is average/good. Unal and Roberts won't be anywhere near the first team so I really hope there is a Plan A- if neither KdB nor Pogba sign and I say A- rather than B because I don't want us to make desperation signings like Rodwell etc. again!

I am thinking Isco and / or Wilshere or even Barkley.
Squad has weakened but team has improved and lol @ ''shit even for Everton last season'' Barkley and Jack wheelchair, and Isco doesnt address our weakness at all.

Buying a house from a willing buyer takes months never mind a player for 40million quid from a club that isn't that interested in selling and is in another country

I agree bale would be a great signing.

But you don't know if there is a hold up, no one does people are presuming there is, perhaps there are other issues at play just maybe both parties prefer to do the negotiations behind closed doors

I'm sure he must be doing everything to make this deal happen. But when I say he needs to do a little bit more, I mean making sure an important signing arrives before the PL starts and get at least 1 pre-season game. And of course, have a plan to our glaring weakness at LB.

Which Im sure he has,but there will be a point when the seller or his agent has the baton dont you think?

But as dof don't you think that is the point where he really has to work at sealing the deal? Surely that's where he earns his corn selling the vision of the club etc.

Can you explain why it is piss poor management as you seem to be itk about these things

I'm starting to wonder what on Earth we're playing at this summer. Last season we had 3 main weaknesses: a lack of pace and dynamism in the final third, a weak left back and a non-existant holding midfield.

Now we've alleviated one of those issues with the signing of Sterling who will be brilliant for us, yet have made no impression on sorting our other issues. We're pissing around with De Bruyne - who is admittedly a good player but not really what we need, and have little or no chance of signing Pogba.

We haven't even looked at bringing in a better left-back or adding quality and bite to our pivot. Okay, Delph will bring energy but is seriously lacking in quality and Yaya is yet another year older. He struggled at times last season and players' legs don't generally improve once they hit their early thirties.

We've sold two strikers, one of whom scored an average of 20 goals a season for us, and replaced them with an unproven 18 year old Kelechi and Bony, a player who is arguably unsuitable for our technical style.

We have lost Milner, a player who brought us graft, intelligence and tactical flexibility, and Lampard, a player whose match winning goals papered over several cracks last season.

If you think our summer is going well then that's your prerogative, but personally I am becoming increasingly alarmed about a squad which was almost dragged into a scrap for fourth at the end of last season, and has arguably gotten worse since.

Speaking as a guy who has been supporting City since the late 1960's, it's just great we can even have these dreams and have a chance they could come true.
I totally agree but when we signed aguero it felt like we were absolutely flying and that we were en route to becoming a footballing super power. Just feel like our momentum has faltered. I don't care about Melbourne city or New York City or this holistic brand I want to see us beat real or barca in a game that matters. Defend a league title. I felt that we were heading in right direction and now not so sure.

Maybe the player has bought the vision of the club and it's down to others to put a financial plan together, negotiate with Wolfsburg and write contracts, and to decide the right time to make a move.

No one knows except for Txiki - De Bruyne - Allofs. We're all assuming here, so are the media. That's the whole point of the forum.
