De Bruyne?

I've noticed that our Spanish speakers often drop the 'S' from what should be plural in their sentences - so you can't tell whether he meant one, two or many

In Spanish when a word ends on 'S' it's often ignored, having watched quite some Barcelona on Spanish streams last season the commentators would always say Lui Suare, Dani Alve, Sergio Busque, etc. Makes for quite some confusion in this particular case though.

We could accommodate De Bruyne. I've posted my logic behind this before.

The issue is we need a quality holding midfielder to allow the system we would use to work. We don't have one.

It's our biggest issue. The reasoning behind the defence being so shaky is down to the middle of the park and that the focus is on being an attacking team that scores the most goals.

That last part, Pelligrini basically said that himself tonight.

I genuinely don't think the club are too fussed if we concede more goals than Chelsea or Arsenal etc etc. More concerned with scoring enough goals to win football matches. The majority of them.

Our back 4 is actually very decent. The addition of a quality, holding midfielder alongside De Bruyne, and I think we are mustard.

Btw that quality holding midfielder was supposed to be Fernando. Personally, I think he's shit, but I've seen a lot of players deliver in their 2nd season in the PL.............

You never know ;)

Does anyone subscribe to Didi Hamann's view of KDB which is basically that the reason he is performing to such a high level at Wolfsburg is because he is at a club with no pressure. I personally think it's simply due to the fact that he is coming into his peak years and is starting to fulfill his potential. He also says De Bruyne is a good player but won't take us to the title. I disagree, he was voted Bundesliga Player of the Season, seems like he's a bit more than a "good player" to me.
The only thing Didi Hamann is good at is losing money at the bookies

got to admit the Sterling-Silva partnership is working a lot better than i thought it would after a couple of weeks, add kDB to that and if he gels as well as Sterling and Silva have, it will be a scary prospect for any team we face.

@JustAnotherCityFan surely they can see Rooney is going down the Scholes path ? and has been for a couple of years to me, a striker who can pass drop him in to midfield, as much as I hate uShited, I have to admit Rooney is a capable striker or traditional number 10, his passing range is exceptional, and as we know from that flukey shinner, he can score a goal or two.
(ffs that hurt saying that)

Rooneys passing is pretty shit. Whenever he drops back to midfield he tries 40-50 yard Hollywood passes that go nowhere near their target and are often easily intercepted. He does have an eye for goal though...and grannies.

Together with "he will not have the space at X!" this "pressure" talking to me is bullshit. This guy is 24 and carried a team alone to the 2nd place in the league and the DFB-Cup. Of course there was pressure on him, it`s just the question if you care or not. Two goals and one assists in a match against Bayern, don`t you think every player is under pressure in such a game? Fact is that KDB always performed, it seems especially against the better teams, so I personally can`t agree with Hamann.

As he's never moved back to Germany how much does he even follow their league ?

Everyone should watch the highlights off his game vs. Bayern, He Single handedly took them apart. Any player who can do that is a welcome addition to the team and just imagine what he can do with the likes of Aguero and Bony on the end of his crosses and not Bas Dost.

My only concern is that he is never as effective for Belgium when he's out on the right, which is where I'm sure he'll play for us. however that could well be because Mark Wilmots is an awful manager who has that belgium team seriously underperforming, and Pellegrini will give him license to roam around any way so it's not like he'll be stuck there.

He's German, an alcoholic, compulsive gambler and a former scouser, enough said!
You've probably said quite enough there.

He is an ex-City player who likes the club and has played the game at the highest level. He knows a thing or two but that does not always make him right. He also works as a pundit so he needs to offer up opinions that get people talking.

Saw that the rags are "set to join the race". Hope not, and I can't see it personally as they'll have potentially Pedro, Mata, Depay and Young for their LW and RW spots.

Have to say I'm hoping we wrap this deal up really soon though.

Rags just get mentioned to get clicks. They have also been mentioned along with Chelsea for Pogba which everyone knows they aren't. Just earns the website more money.

He must be some player to get the Bundesliga Player of the Year when you consider the players at Bayern, and Dortmund. The only drawback is that it is the area of the team where we are strongest. We're not lacking for goals or creativity and added Sterling to the attack so ideally I'd have liked to strengthen in defence or midfield.

But you don't get many opportunities to buy top quality players. if we can get De Bruyne, and add him to Sterling, Delph and Roberts that will be 3 great signings, and one for the future.

Also means that in subsequent windows we only need the odd player. The bulk of the rebuilding will have been done.
Yeah as good as he is, its an odd one considering we still have glaring weaknesses in other positions. Unless, Silva moves in to the midfield 3 with Toure and Dinho behind him. Normally I'd say let's trust the management, but last season we loaned out Negredo on deadline day without replacing him and ended up having to play Milner and Pozo upfront so you do sometimes wonder.

Any story about a late swoop by the rags for a target we've been trailing all summer can only be great news ! Often signals the end game is close ...

Those clowns couldn't join a fucking egg and spoon race. The chances of KDB joining them is nil, but in order to placate the hoardes of needy, glory hunting gobshites from far flung corners of the globe, his name, along with Ronaldo, Bale and various other top players needs to be linked on a daily basis to show they're still the bestest in the world..which they're not.
Another season of battling it for fourth spot beckons for those cunts.

I have lived in Germany for years and, although last season was pretty much a one horse race, the general fitness levels and technical ability of the players in the Bundesliga is very high. Kevin de Bruyne stood out last year which makes him a very decent acquisition in my opinion, BUT i can't get my head around the figures being quoted. I hope it's just journos whistling in the dark because we should not be willing to pay anything approaching 50 million pounds for him. We needed to pay 44 million for Sterling for a varierty of reasons, but i don't think we need to pay that kind of fee for KDB. Just my two-penneths worth of course.

They've also been linked with bale, ronaldo, ramos, Mueller , ibrahimovic, Kroos, Kane, Sterling, Pele, Maradona, zico, puscas, Stanley matthews, and anybody else who has been a boyhood utd fan.
