De Bruyne?

Big media outlet this morning in Germany:.

Is this a chance of happening today? (Or tonight in my case) or is it still looking like Friday?

I believe Friday was the day stated by Tolmie earlier in the thread and Ric is also confident of the deal being done which is good. I think Ric said he would be surprised if it was done by Friday but has heard things are moving along nicely in our favour. Either way I think KDB will be ours within the next week at most.

I know these big transfers take a while to go through and appreciate that Wolfsburg didn't need or want to sell him, but it seems as if he has got more expensive each passing week.

I remember towards the end of last season when the rumours started that we were being quoted £35m to buy him....and at the time thinking "bloody hell, that seems a lot, considering they only bought him for £18m a year ago".....then a month later it was £40m.....then £45m.....and so on....and now it's apparently going to be around £57m.

How the fuck does this happen?!?

That is the drawback when you do all your negotiating with the player first, put so much effort into the background work and 'due dilligence' etc....that the club then knows you're basically committed, so will eseentially pay whatever the fuck they ask for. It happened with Sterling, is happening with KDB and potentially with Pogba. The selling club knows you have gone balls deep for someone so aren't going to waste all that effort for the sake of 5 or £10m.

No chance. We haven't bid yet.

That's just not true. Allofs may have said it, but two days ago he said they'd already did had bids and then he said he expected "another bid".

So you can it ignore anything the man says.

I think what's really telling is that we have heard nothing from Allofs and Hecking all week. Last week it was at least a quote a day. Things have obviously changed as stated by the guys on here.

So? Who cares? Firstly you're wrong about sterling. Liverpool had said 50m from the day he rejected his contract in December.

And de Bruyne has performed to a level where something like 50m isn't robbery. He's performed as well if not better than James Rodriguez who cost 63m and better than Di Maria who was 59 and older.

There are only a couple of footballers in Europe who will improve our starting XI. Obviously we are going to have to pay for them.

We're getting a world class player at 24. In 5 years time the idea we paid 50m for him will be seen as good business. It's not you're money, as long as the club can afford it and it doesn't stop us from doing any other transfers then why does it matter?

And the Pogba deal was fucked by the image rights being owned by a third party. Nothing to do with Juventus at all.
