Can we stop with the moaning about Sabster not agreeing with 90% of Bluemoon that De jong is the best thing since sliced breas?

The guy doesn't have to agree with you all. I too don't think De Jong is WC. He is no better than Huddlestone, Lucas Leiva or Song. They all bring different advantages to the game, but their overall contributions are about the same. Bluemooner just overstate De Jong's impact.

Clearly, Sabster is just reacting to the overstatement. I have nevert once heard him call De Jong shaite. Even a idiot knows De Jong is not shaite.

NDJ, no doubt about it. I rate Fellaini too, it's just Nigel I simply the best player in his position in the world, including Mascherano and Diarra.

What about Barry then - he played more minutes than De Jong (at lest in the PL) - does that make him indispensable?

FFS Barry is slow, awkward, cumbersome and well slow again!! Just not upto the job at the level were now at. Hurry up someone and employ Mark Hughes so he can take some of his dross with him!!

De Jong is almost as slow. FFS.

One thing I can absolutely guarantee is that De Jong performed identically to Barry, he would be lauded in exactly the same way as he is now.

That is exactly the level I think he is - not a bad player at all (although I would probably have Huddelstone over him)

How did Barry get into this discussion? Barry is a very average footballer, who had some talent as a minor goalscoring midfield player with a very average Villa team. Then, when we bought him, he lost the only yard of pace he ever had, and is now useless. He doesn't do anything very well at all. He has no 1st touch, is totally immobile, no vision, can't head, has no dicipline, no leadership quality and isnt that good at tackling -giving away needless freekicks in and around the box.
He makes the rest of the team jittery because they cant trust him which is part of the reason Kolarov appears to be so crap too.

NDJ on the other hand is a world class holding midfield player...............end of.

De Jong was easily the best player in that position last season.

Stats aren't everything but last season:

WITH NDJ in the Prem: W20 D6 L6 = 66pts at 2.06pts per game

WITHOUT NDJ: W1 D2 L3 = 5pts at 0.83pts per game

i asked sabster to comment on this in a similar thread a while back - he conveniently ignored it then too

\Tbf, the first half is readable, the rest is bile. Maybe a third is readable.
