Should no bid be made or accepted, it looks as if he always had every intention of remaining at Roma.
For him it's win-win.

Agree, regardless of it annoying the 'lock the thread' mob on here, there is surely more to this than meets the eye...
The only thing to actually come out of his appearance today was the 'revelation' that he is prepared to move if the club accept a bid? We already knew he hadn't asked to leave because he'd just signed a new contract.
He's played a blinder here and now cannot look anything but a hero, even if he does leave. He wanted to stay despite the financial rewards on offer, so no mercenary tag for Daniele lol, and he remains an icon of Rome.
If he stays (because we don't do a deal with Roma) he is more loved than ever for turning us down...
Hopefully the deal makers are in negotiation with Roma tonight. Can see this rumbling on to the end of the window!

i agree mate, DDR has to play a blinder otherwise the mad italians will be rioting in the streets, and he will probably fear for his life.
Don't forget this lot drove a burning scooter into the away fans, from an upper tier

Nobody can say this deal is off yet with any certainty for exactly the reasons outlined above plus the strong feeling that we - as a club - would not have pursued this one unless there had been positive feedback from either the player, Roma or very likely both parties. The key to the whole thing for me is how desperately Roma need the fee and savings in wages that a transfer would bring about?
As suggested above a win-win outcome is an absolute possibility. Maybe I just belong in the deluded corner too. Still I wonder what the odds are just now?
