De Rossi (again)

Well, I think he'll stay. There are absolutely no signals that he'll move now and I doubt that City will offer something crazy (40+) tomorrow. Javi Garcia very likely IMO.

Now I understood our transfer policy throughout the summer, and the reasons for the caution, but after that draw I think we need to sign Messi, DDR and Scott Sinclair just to remain competitive!!!

Just DDR if NDJ is gone would be a start

The thing is, our CL group would be hard enough to get out of without a player like De Rossi. When you consider we'll have to play our first 11 to even think about progressing, we still have tough league games to think about!

Khaldoon, Marwood, Mancini, have you seen the Champions league group, now get on the bloody phone and sort out De Rossi :-)
Fuck Marwood off. Get the Sheikh and Khaldoon doing this deal.

Marwood probably too busy messing around at Bridgewater getting Richard Wright to sign a contract FFS!
Stop whining you baby

You have to say after that draw what we currently have is not enough

Eh?

Based on a squad without NDJ, RSC and Sav but with Sinclair, Maicon and Nastasic:

We win home and away against Ajax = 6 pts;
We beat Dortmund at home and draw away = 4;
We take a point from Lady Boy's lot = 1.

11 pts and it's hello easy oppo in the knock-out round.

Eminently gettable points IMO

I am not whining. I was being sarcastic.

4 pts v Ajax
3 pts v BD
0 pts v RM

7 not enough!

Heavily underestimating Dortmund. They won the league against the CL finalists remember.

We were meant to beat Napoli last year.

We will do well to advance from our league. Best way to win these games would be playing Barry and De Jong from the start with Yaya advancing. 4 at the back with 2 holding, otherwise we get hit on the counter :(

Can we restrict this thread to discussing the subject of DDR (not that there is anything further to discuss), please discuss the Champions League on the main forum.

Some of you Blues are over estimating our powers in Europe. I don't care how good we are in the Premier League but in the Champions League we are still very unexperienced.

Underestimate Dortmund and Ajax at you will, we did the same with Napoli last season, and struggled with relegated Villarreal at home until Sergio scored a last minute winner.

We need a player like De Rossi badly in the midfield. He is perfect and to be honest I could not care what he costs.

Not underestimating Dortmund at all; they strugged massively last year in the Champs League (more than us) and are far more adept in the Bundesliga but they are certainly beatable.

Ajax are not a shadow of their past selves.

We should be quietly confident.

I stand by my points pred.

We should progress but never say never.

Mancini is a little naive in Europe from his time at Inter and last season. Hopefully he sets up like we did against Newcastle and United in must win games. We will come away with the goods then. Playing all out attacking football will only work if we play a similar kind of team. Many will sit back and look for the counter which we are worryingly vulnerable at.

We need a long run in it anyway, semi's should be targeted. More cash and exposure from it then.
