Just clarifying the reporting situation as it's gone around the houses a bit on this thread.

The Italian newspaper Gazetta report that City have offered 35 million euros to Roma and that the offer is under consideration. Also report we are offering 9 million salary to DeRossi.

Meanwhile some of our esteemed friends on Rag Caf are shitting themselves at the thought of a DDR + Yaya pairing in central midfield. Reckon it's perfect for City. However the more informed (?) among them say the rags would have no need for DDR as the world-class Carrick is superior and/or they'd rather wait for Fletcher to return. Hmm.

on a side note, van persie will not and is not happy at man u,it will be a bad signing for them and it will end in tears regardless of what the corrupt media will try and portray.

imo

Don't forget they have Jones who's soon to be the long awaited world class replacement for Roy Keane

I have heard a few different things over the last 24 hours, so at the moment i'm not getting to excited/dissapointed either way.
But i think its safe to assume that city are trying to sign de rossi otherwise the club/mancini would have said by now i thnk, and as was pointed out yesterday bobby looked like a naughty schooboy during the presser.

Take some advice stress-heads. If he signs, he signs. If he doesn't, he doesn't.
Sorted.

You're beginning to sound like Ivan Drago.

he's right though, we have a brilliant team already, course we'd like him but he would be an addition as opposed to our local team from the next town who's recently signed player was despeation boure out of nessessity.

Roberto Mancini is ready to admit defeat in his attempts to take Javi Martinez, Daniele De Rossi and Daniel Agger to Manchester City.

The Italian has already missed out on two other major summer transfer targets - Eden Hazard, who joined Chelsea, and Robin van Persie, who left Arsenal for Manchester United.

Now Athletic Bilbao's Spain international Martinez is on the brink of moving to Bayern Munich, and De Rossi and Agger, who appear likely to remain at Roma and Liverpool respectively.

"We talked about Martinez," Mancini said. "But it is a situation that is not easy because there are top clubs who want Martinez. De Rossi is difficult because he is a Roma. Agger? I don't think so."

Mancini has only brought in one player - Everton's Jack Rodwell - but Martinez and De Rossi, who are also both capable of playing in the centre of midfield or defence, were his preferred options for that role.

And while the Italian insisted his relationship with City's football administrator Brian Marwood is fine, he reiterated his stance that the club should have acted earlier in the transfer window.

He added: "Sometimes it is not enough maybe to have money to spend. Sometimes you should move very quickly because when there are three or four top teams involved it is difficult."
