De Rossi

More chance of M'Vila than De Rossi IMO.

I accept the experience argument, but ours is a team where there has to be an introduction, a transition.

That comes by being patient with slightly younger players than De Rossi.

De Rossi is good enough to hit the ground running, but we have existing personnel such as Barry, Milner and De Jong, to a lesser extent, to appease.

I suspect Tolmie that this thread has gained more credence from the fact De Rossi indicted he might be lured into playing in the prem league and maybe some put De Rossi in the world class bracket when you referred to signing established top drawer players. Must admit I was one of them.

Yep, De Rossi is right up there in the terms of the quality.

However, De Rossi's recent favourable comments about the Premier League I believe were just friendly lip service, having been asked before the Italy v England game.

A bit when Mancini was in the States and said how good it would be to sign Landon Donovan.

City aren't going to spend £30m on a guy they could have purchased for £8m less than six months back, out of some sort of agreement De Rossi felt to earn Roma serious cash.

Fanciful, surely?

There's also the fact that De Rossi is in the middle of a custody battle for his daughter in Rome so I doubt he would leave.

Far too many hurdles to a deal.

Cheers for that, crosses DDR off the list.

-- Sun Jul 22, 2012 12:44 pm --

Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that’s turning
Running rings around the moon

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of it's face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind !

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it's own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone,
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream,
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping ....

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly ?
Was it something that you said ?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand

Is the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand ?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of this song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong ?

He: when you knew
That it was over
You were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color
Of her hair !

She: when you knew
That it was over
In the autumn of goodbyes
For a moment
You could not recall the color
Of his eyes !

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever spinning reel

As the images unwind
Like the circles
That you find
In the windmills of your mind !

Back to square one again.

I don't think we have a list. We're missing Cook big time this summer.

Read 'Richer Than God' by David Conn, specifically pages 243-247 and you'll learn all about the way Brian Marwood and the scouting department collate information on players and how Mancini has a spreadsheet full of players he likes.
