i dont think stoned will be playing in midfield. Rice is exactly what pep wanted from stoned in midfield.

Yaya was a CB at one time. Maybe pep sees Declan as the same type of player. There is only 1 Yaya but other players can have similar traits.

Yaya wasn't a CB. He played the position once or twice. He was a marauding box to box CM everywhere he went until he got to Barcelona where he calmed down and played the tiki taka as a DM.

Then he came to us and returned to his Pre Barcelona self with better footballing nuance.

Dont disagree with your last bit but If we're trusting the rumors surrounding targets this summer, gvardiol is the only defensive target to replace Laporte. Assuming cancelo is shipped out, that is leaving us with kyle walker as the only fullback at the club, we don't have the players to play any other system but the back 3, stones in midfield system.
