I said it a while ago, Kanté is there for the taking. But with Chelsea’s Transfer Ban I’m not so sure anymore.
 
Kante cannot effectively play as a lone pivot (key position for all Pep teams), his passing/vision is below average. No wonder that he's struggling in Sarri's system in its attacking version - and Sarri can only use him as 8, not 6.

Rodri is a 22 yo DM in the mold of Sergio Busquets, the release clause is reportedly set at €70m.
Wonder if City are considering him. He's far more suitable for a lone pivot position than his teammate Saul.

Joined Atletico Madrid from Villarreal for €20m last summer.

Sarri has mentioned several times why Kante can't play in that role, Pep would most likely say the same thing, he just doesn't have the vision nor isn't able to play quick one touch passing constantly
 
Someone who definitely CAN do this is Zinchenko. Interesting that Pep said he could probably play in that position the other day.
 
The great man Fernandinho is not getting any younger and replacing him is going to be some task.

Here is a long shot to chew over Sean Longstaff. Thought he looked good for a youngster against us, but having watched him last night for Newcastle V Burnley he really does look a prospect. He was hitting long passes, scored, and was getting stuck in. Apparently he has a penchant for hitting shots from a good way out and often hits the target. Bagged a few at Blackpool last season whilst on loan.

ready like zinchenko was ready to be our left back at the beginning of the season? if pep wanted him to stay this year, i would assume there is a chance he will stay next year

But seriously, we're running out of options, I can't suggest any other suitable candidates. Ndombele is brainless, Aouar and Lo Celso are too small and fragile, Saul - too expensive, Rice lacks quality on the ball. We'll end up with Zinchenko as DM this way.

Just do what it takes and get the best there is; Kante.

Chelsea will probably change manager again, have a possible transfer ban looming and may not even have CL football the way the league table is shaping up. We should stop scraping the bottom of barrels or hoping someone average most people haven't heard of comes good enough to replace the key part of our team, and just slap down an offer they can't refuse in summer.

He's not suitable for the sole 6 position I'm afraid, lacks playmaking ability. Sarri isn't stupid, he uses Jorginho there for a reason.
