Demichelis

He might be a decent signing as cover but it seems a waste of money and rather idiotic to be paying so much for a player that was available on a free from Pellegrini's old club just a month or so ago.

He's not that slow but he is definitely a decent defender. I'd rather sign him than Pepe.

Guys,

Demichelis might not be the best (or youngest) option but makes alot of sense....He wont need as long as other new players to get up to speed as he know Pellegrini's system already so is more likely to be ready to help before Kompany is fit again and from a few reports(rumours) I've seen on twitter, internet reports etc.....he's agreed a 18k a week salary.....which in my eyes is VERY cheap for a prem player.......Dont think I've seen a worse game from our back 4 than I saw yesterday (lucky Hull dont have strikers or we would have lost this game!) so anyone we sign can only help...

thanks

He could be the ideal signing for the reasons you give, so we will have to give him a go. My only reservations lie in the fact that English football is more direct and more physical than it is in Spain, and as Pelly is still learning what our game is all about and is intent in bringing in new defensive strategies, it could yet happen that our defence is at risk from the kind of tactics that Cardiff applied. I will excuse Pelly for his CB line-ups vs Hull as he had few options, but last year's reservations from fans about Lescott and Nasty both being left footed were there for all to see.

Has anyone considered the fact he will have received a signing on fee from Athletico maybe 2/3 million if he was a free.. That's why he's costing us a small fee

After watching yesterday's game we need more than cover at centre back! We need someone similar to Nigel De Jong to sit behind Fernandinho and Yaya as the midfield was run by Huddlestone and basically struggled!

Left side of midfield needs sorting too I don't understand why any team would play with one winger!! I can't help but think the team looked a lot weaker than last few years is this a result of FFP? Early days I know but the warning signs are there.

Sure he is no Vertonghen. :P Still hate seeing him in a Spud shirt. That should have been our guy. :( Oh well, I guess CHelis it is then. Sadly, I have never liked any of City's CD purchases in since the new ownership came in.

Lescott, Toure, Boateng, Savic, Nasty.... Nasty has been a pleasant surprise performance wise, but I barely knew him before we got him. The other 4 were were just underwhelming when e got them. Either overpriced or not ready yet when we got them.

And no, Kompany was bought to play DM, so we just lucked out that he turned out to be a massive gem. Oh well, I should stop whinning. Hope Nasty turns out to be a massive gem too.

So you think Vertonghen is better than Nastasic ?

Nastasic cost City 19 mil ( 12 + Savic)
Vertonghen cost Spurs 7 mil
Vertonghen cost Spurs £11m

And Savic was not sold to the worth of £7m

Nasty costs £12 million in total (£9 million plus Savic who was a £3 million make-weight).

Looks fucking great in that vid. Cant wait.

Whoever we play at CB they need midfield cover and they won't get it with Yaya and Fernanhino.

IMO we need one of Barry, Rodwell or Milner with Fernandhino and Yaya pushed further forward which would mean playing 1 CF (Aguero).

With Liverpool signing ilori and maybe Sakho, they'd also have Toure, Skrtel and Agger.

Begs the question, could we not have kept Kolo?

Spurs also have Chiriches, Vertonghen, Dawson, Gallas and Kaboul.

Surely we need better strength in depth like this?
Why would we have kept kolo when he wanted to leave, was on ridiculous wages and is an inferior player to Demichelis.
Also, Liverpool won't sign Sakho and Spurs have released Gallas.

We have Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott and Boyata (Richards, Rodwell and Garcia can also play there). Add Demichelis and we have better options than Liverpool or Spurs.
So we have 3 decent centre backs, less than the others. Have you watched Demichelis recently? Rather have Kolo and the extra wages probably worth it!

Hopefully we've signed Alderweireld and loaned him out, there's a talent.

I hope OB1 doesn't see your post ;)

I'm pleased to see that he looks faster than some originally said he was, also looks like a very experienced. Very right footed though.

Why? Huddlestone DID run the midfield especially in the first half, we only took charge when Milner came on. £30m for Fernandinho compared to the £3.5m we sold De Jong for. We've had our pants pulled down on several occasions.

Whilst I'm not suggesting he is rapid.

He is alot faster than many on here seem to suggest. His pace has never been an issue.

He is pacier than Lescott thats for sure.

Well for me being Argie means like Zab and Aguero he won't shirk from a tackle he will be a hard bastard sign him up.
