He won't play Foden as a 10 yet in that space he drive straight down the middle and tore them apart, and hit the post with an effort. Keeping the ball is the way to defend and pressing high helps you keep clean sheets.

FA should have sacked him after the Nations League disaster.

Wharton is a proper player. Wants the ball, keeps the ball, passes successfully. If you're not putting Foden as a 10 that's the next logical move.

The trouble in letting a manager stay so long and making it his last chance means he will be stubborn to what has worked before and negative rather than positive in his approach. Why call Wharton up if you don't want to use him. TAA has been a car crash, Gallagher runs and that's about it and Mainoo off the ball is shocking.
