troadie: see my earlier edit, apologies i do seem to have misunderstood part of the MTP scheme, and the way it works DOES seem to make it compulsory to purchase the MTP. lifes a woman

20,000 empty seats! Are you f***ing sure? ;-)

Don't you know, we only ever sell out against United?

Source: The Book of Rag Myths

Some Hull City fan I work with came out with this shit a few years ago when they were in the Prem. I couldn't resist having a look later that night. During the year of the takeover, the Derby was in fact our 10th highest home league attendance of the season.

Greater segregation and a reduced allocation for the rags

No it does not. MTP only comes into play after all the brackets of points have had their chance to get tickets.

It goes something like this (for example):

- 8000 points
-7000 points
-6000
-5000
-3000
-2500
-2000
-1500
-MTP
-normal blue card
-general sale

if people buy when they are first eligible to do so then people with MTP will not affect them; it only gives me an advantage over those who also have not enough points to get them into an earlier purchasing bracket.

so to reiterate - it does not let me get tickets before those with more points than me - this would be stupid as it would render the whole loyalty points system redundant.

but having said that, whenever i buy a ticket i am happy and don't give a flying fuck about those people with more points than me who may have missed out on getting a ticket for whatever reason. if they have enough points, they are given a priority and if they fail to purchase their ticket within their time then tough luck.

Yes it does, example, a blue member with 10 points and MTP can get a ticket before a blue member with 1000000 points and no MTP, also your selling criteria example is wrong unless you are referring to season card holders getting tickets for cup games before blue members.

So to reiterate, it does let you to get tickets before those with more points than you.

are you on the wind up? if someone has 1000000 points they will qualify for the earliest date of being eligible to purchase (i.e. 8000+ plus points or whatever it is for that match). MTP only comes into play after all categories of points have been given their chance to purchase. if you think that having a £15 MTP membership puts you at the head of the queue, in front of people with thousands of points, then you need help.

edit: ok i was wrong about one thing - even with enough points you still need MTP to purchase, i didn't realise this and this does seem to force all blue members to pay the extra £15. but at the end of the day these fans would probably all choose to pay the extra £15, and its not much in the grand scheme of a season.

Thank goodness the penny is dropping at last.

Go back and read my earlier posts, my gripe is that the club are using both systems. MTP might not be much for an individual but for a family of 4 it is an extra £60 per season on top of already expensive ticket prices. I'm not criticising you or anybody else for paying for MTP, my criticism is aimed at the club, they have obviously seen this as a crafty way of screwing more money out of the fans.

-- Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:47 pm --

No worries mate, I'm not having a go at you or anybody else for buying MTP, my gripe is with the club for using it as an excuse to screw extra money out of the fans.

glad thats all cleared up! yes the club are having to squeeze the money out of the fans (the viagogo scheme is testament to that), its a shame but its not their fault and is the way the game is going (ffp and the like). all the fans can do is support the club on the pitch and hope that whenever they get to a game, no matter how little or often, the team on the pitch repays them

The club may as well do away with the loyalty point scheme for all the good it now does. This is just yet another legitimate way to bypass the system by paying for the privilege. City should stop doing this sort of shit; it really doesn't sit well with the whole 'loyalty' ethos they love to espouse.

Spot on mate, I've told the club it's the type of thing the rags would do.

That's my point exactly chaps, City are screwing the fans for everything they can get. Which is a sad state of affairs and more importantly they do not reward loyalty to the club.

Is it just for the derby that City have insisted on MTP? I am almost sure it wasn't like this for previous home games.

I think that's abit unfair tbh. I don't think we're at that stage yet.

Correct, they only do this for the derby. Other games are MTP, then regular Blue members before going to general sale. Points don't come into play at all.
