Derek

Re: Derek

I watched 10 minutes of the pilot, and had to switch it off, or risk smashing my telly in with a brick. God I'd like to hit Gervais, the smug twat. I actually despise the man, hearing his annoying laugh makes me want to kill anyone in the room.

You can't compare the Pilot to the current series.

It's brilliant. Just pure brilliance.

Re: Derek

I like it, Karl's rants are the highlight for me although I'm not struck on Gervais playing Dereck.
Idiot Abroad was quality, whether Karl's acting or genuine, for me he makes that partnership on the Ricky Gervais show.

Re: Derek

It's been an amazing series for me. Started as something which I thought I'd casually watch but I've really connected with it and it turned into my favourite programme in the end. Lots of emotional points for me but tonight's topped the lot.

Re: Derek

I still don't get it. Gervais' juvenile gurning and overacting kills the character, Merchant is fucking useless and Karl is well past his sell by date. It simply doesn't add up to much at all.

As I've previously said, Peter Kay's Leonard nailed this area of comedy in less than an hour, more than ten years ago. Nailed it. Say what you want about his garlic bread arena shite, That Peter Kay Thing was excellent. Gervais and Merchant are a decade out and failing badly.

Steve Merchant isnt even in it and had nothing to do with it

Re: Derek

Tonight's finale really was really touching. Always winced when the character Kev was on screen, but when he poured his heart out at the end like that; I'm not going to lie it really was tough to watch him break down like that but it raised a smile that kindness does eventually, in the end, prevail.
