Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

Just a bitter **** for not making it and blaming it on everyone else but himself.

Any article that still states the following "City shouldn’t have let Daniel Sturridge go" is really not worth reading. When will journalists do there research that would take all of 30 seconds to find out that Sturridge refused to sign a contract. Wasn't our fault he left because the greedy fucker wanted top money. But at least we ended up getting circa of £8M for him from the tribunal.

Sorry but you make no sense. Loans are mostly down to other clubs identifying a player they thing they could use. City do not have significant influence over that as its down to how they perform on the pitch in front of scouts from other clubs. I don’t see why City would hold back any player from a good opportunity. The only exception I can think of is with the elite who are training with the first team and have an outside shot at first team duty which presents an understandable tough call.

Very naive to think that, parent clubs play a massive part in getting lads out on loan.

It's no coincidence we struck a deal with Valencia for Negredo and Zuculini ended up there or that the Boro manager is Spanish and he is now there. That is MCFC getting them deals done. He's hardly played and has no reputation so how could they have seen him?

There is a massive perception in England that English lads are not good enough and everyone is frightend to give them a chance unless they are forced to.

If Sterling was at City when he was younger and also now I believe he would have been behind Lopes and Pozo first and then Roberts now just like Barker is in terms of opportunities, look at the difference in players now because one manager believed in him and wasn't obliged to play someone else because they cost money.

spoilt arse devante has been rejected by several championshp/1st division clubs no one wanted him , Bradford was his last resort , the by product of rejection is bitterness , which this prick has in abundance. His dad was also a gobshite ("call me andrew") , but at least he could play a bit , good riddance , hope he got his 20 pieces of silver for the article , and the daily fail will have generated thousands of clicks from their mug rags and dippers fans / customers. Its so f*cking transparent , they are scraping the barrel now , cant they find another "special one" story , and leave us alone.

Tbh, he was a decent, very effective player for the EDS, and perhaps, yes, he should have gotten a run out in the cup games or something. BUT he would have always been a 'maybe' at best when the likes of Pozo and Lopes often seemed like certainties. This is mildly xenophobic, sour grapes. He's a bitter man. Like his dad.

Some players will always slip through the net, its gonna happen. But even if he does make it to a high level over time, i wouldnt necessarily say its City fault in this instance. With Lopes I would, but not in Cole's scenario. Some of the kids we have around now have vastly more star potential in my opinion.
Tbf to his dad he was sold by Arsenal to Bristol City as a 21 year old and he did knuckle down and work his way back to the top flight and had a successful career. I'll be surprised if Devante makes it higher than a useful Championship striker.

Unfortunately in the majority of cases it's reality rather than perception. You're not seriously suggesting that if an "English Messi" turned up in one of the academies that he'd struggle to get a game?

Isn't that what Roberts has been described as and he struggles to get minutes when 5-1 up against Newcastle?

Modern english players from 15-21 are some of the most technical footballers around, the difference is the pathways for them to progress are terrible in this country and they get left behind whilst the Germans, Spanish etc continue to progress.

You get exceptions like Sterling and Barkley who you can't deny are two of the best U21 players in the world and the there is John Stones who you would find it hard to find a more promising defender for his age.

It's no coincidence that these three players got the opportunities because they had better pathways due to the stature of the first team. All three could have easily been at a top four club and stagnated in the U21 league like many others have done, are doing and will continue to do so.

Are foreign kids not stagnating in the same manner at the top clubs?

No as they get great loan moves. To develop. If you've paid £1m for someone and you believe he hasn't got what it takes after a few years you try and recuperate that initial outlay. It's business at the end of the day and if I purchase something and it's not worked out, I work hard to make sure my losses aren't as bad.

Don't you think that is down to Pellegrini rather than some endemic anti-English policy at the club? Any youngsters struggle to get game time under Pellegrini. IMO Iheanacho is the best of the current crop and he struggles to get the odd 5 minutes off the bench.

So what you're saying is City aren't trying to get English kids the best loan moves possible but they are with the foreign kids?
