Di Maria

I see the rags are likely to sell for way less than they bought him, something like a 16m loss in one season yet they have the balls to have a go at the amount paid for Sterling YCNMIU

Definitely on his way by all accounbts. Odds on now to leave...7/4 to stay. What an embarrassment.

Fairly sizeable loss on Di Maria if the figures are to be believed, and why should we doubt them, when the papers quote huge wages for our players it's taken as Gospel so.......

£59M 12 months ago, selling for £42m this summer. A £17m drop in value, which given Di Maria is still only 27, so supposedly at pretty much the peak of his abilities, is some drop off. It's almost as if £59m was a monumental overspend on United's behalf, strange that no-one mentioned that 12 months ago.....

Di Maria isn't really suited to the Premier League. His skillset should have made him the ideal Premier League attacking player, quick, tricky, good goalscoring record etc, however the one thing you need, and he lacks, is the heart. You'll be kicked and physically manhandled in England, it's not just about having the quality to control a football, you've got to withstand your opponents too. Aguero has the temperament to deal with it, Silva too. Di Maria, for the want of a better word, is a bit of a pussy. He doesn't stand up to the fight, he runs hiding from it. For United to be willing to sell after just 12 months speaks volumes.

Also worth noting that Di Maria, highly likely, never really wanted to come to United, or England. PSG and the French League, with it's easier nature, and more fluid playing style, suits Di Maria far better. If PSG didn't have the FFP spending restrictions that City also suffered last season then he'd have gone there instead.

Wonder if the comparison is like with like on the various transfer numbers? That £59 million was the lowest that could possibly be quoted, nearer £75 million was right if using the Sterling formula. Which doesn't matter except that I would bet the £43 million in any sale is in comparison to the £75 million, not the £59 million, with all addon clauses included.

Will be spun that he failed to make the grade rather than an embarrassment on the rags part.

Whereas it's actually a huge slice of both! Di Maria hasn't cut it in the Premier League, but the £42m they can command for him today also indicates United were bent over and drilled hard by Real when they over paid to the tune of £59m last summer.

Di Maria Bought for 59.7m Sold for 42m on 250,000 a week wages
Falcao Loan Fee 20m on 300,000 a week wages

Money spunked and there will be no mention of this in the press ....
Don't forget Mendes was both of their agents, so we can probably assume their was a pretty substantial agents fee in both transfers. The rags last seasons transfer business might have to go down as one of the worst transfer windows ever by a team tbh.
