Imagine governments having to listen to the wishes of the population they represent, madness.

Merkel responded to pressure and everyone was happy until it affected them and then they weren't. I don't have a position on this because I don't know what the answer is but I don't think closed borders is the answer.
They probably show them selected posts from Brexiters on here about how good it's going to be here and how bad in the EU.
Whilst agreeing with you I would point out also that we are rather more populous than the countries you referenced so raw numbers don't tell the whole story. So much more to discuss / debate but for now I am up the apples and pears and into the land of nod. Sleep tight everyone.I don’t know what the answer is either, not sure anyone does.
I do think the UK could do a lot more. For comparison we accept less asylum seekers than Germany, France or Spain. Last year we accepted 35k. Germany 140k, France and Spain 120k each.
But these figures are small compared to the overall problem. On the other hand if we did more and made reuniting people with family over here easier then we will be less likely to have a dead teenager in the Channel.
We won’t make it easier though, because as a country we don’t really care and there are more votes in not caring.
Over 4500 have arrived, and are now filling many hotels around the country.Did i claim you did personally? The numbers coming by boat are a tiny amount of immigrants coming here ,not worth the gov setting the navy on them and talking like it is a national outrage, still it diverts attention
Nothing like severe hyperbole and using the Holocaust to try and make an argument is there?
That's a flippant assertion that suggests the overwhelming majority of people in the UK are heartless bastards for not openly welcoming anyone, from anywhere,We won’t make it easier though, because as a country we don’t really care and there are more votes in not caring.

for any reason, with whatever background, free and simple access to this country.
Open borders are not a policy anywhere to my knowledge, maybe Antarctica, but it's not very conducive to life.
