Dianne Abbott

Short memories.
I seem to have been deep in the politics forum today and I can't say that my my mood has been improved. We need some funny pet gifs or something to cheer us up.
Still homemade Thai curry for supper and first attempt at sticky rice.

If you're a cat lover this will give you a giggle like it did me

Not that migrants has anything to do with brexit of course.

It must have been brexit voters at fault for all those crossing the Med and all those crossing from North Africa.

Some very desperate and quite sad posters on here.
I take it that the UK must still be quite the draw given how people are prepared to risk everything to get here.
I try to take a moment (when I remember!) to thank my lucky stars that I am in the fortunate position I am in.

Not especially and not for the majority. Some risk it as they are likely to have family and a network that can support them. Make it easier for people to join families in the UK and you will likely reduce the number trying to cross and reduce the risk of 16 y/o’s drowning in the channel.

Most refugees stay in the first country they enter, meaning most of the pressure is on the Med countries. Turkey has over 2m refugees, mainly from Syria.

There are no votes in making it easier for refugees. You only have to remember the collective meltdown here and across Europe when Merkel gave 1m refugees safe harbour five years ago.

Imagine governments having to listen to the wishes of the population they represent, madness.

Merkel responded to pressure and everyone was happy until it affected them and then they weren't. I don't have a position on this because I don't know what the answer is but I don't think closed borders is the answer.

I wasn’t talking about you but if you want to create a thread then I’ll contribute.

Livingstone is a fossil and an antisemitic fossil at that, fuck whatever he says.
If that's your starting gambit for a new thread, stuff it.

I genuinely think the criminal gangs who traffic them at times throughout their journey sell them this mystifying dream of UK life and they think they genuinely can massively improve their lives.
...
They probably show them selected posts from Brexiters on here about how good it's going to be here and how bad in the EU.
